Ottawa spends thousands to "wrap" buses in Pride colours

Ottawa spent $79,189.27 over four years to wrap its buses in Pride colours. In 2023 and 2024, they wrapped one bus a year. Then in 2025 and 2026 they wrapped two buses each year. Does this mean that next year they will wrap four buses? Maybe a whole fleet of buses?

This for a bus system that ended 2025 with a deficit of $52 million.

Why do tax payers have to fund LGBTQ organizations?

From the Ottawa Citizen: LGBTQ+ charities and non-profits face increasing financial struggle. Fae Johnstone the executive director of Queer Momentum:

We need to support the organizations making equality real.

Ah, no we don't. I don't want to give any more of my tax dollars to LGBTQ ideology. Canadians already give LGBTQ millions.

LGBTQ+ charities and non-profits deliver critical services and programs to the most vulnerable queer people. In Ottawa and across Canada, they're facing the perfect storm: economic precarity, government belt-tightening and corporations rescinding financial support, all made worse by a social and political climate increasingly hostile to LGBTQ+ acceptance.

Cry me a river.

If they want more money to fund their ideology let them fundraise for it. They've already received enough from the taxpayer. Kind Space received $1,077,389 in the past five years from government. Ten Oaks received $334,019. And Queer Momentum has received $395,325 for a total of almost $2 million dollars.

One of the commenters on this article made some excellent points as to why we do not need to fund these charities:
Sexual-identity-based charities rest on the flawed premise that people require different forms of support because of who they are, rather than because of what they are experiencing. Homelessness, depression, addiction, trauma, and poverty are sadly universal human conditions in our society. They do not become categorically different when experienced by LGBTQ+ individuals. Creating parallel, identity-filtered charities ultimately fragments service delivery, duplicates infrastructure, and diverts what is already scarce funding from more deserving outcome-driven programs that serve far more people.

In a time where Canadians have few and few dollars to give to charities, part thanks to our Liberal government running out of other peoples money, prioritizing identity over demonstrated need and measurable effectiveness is just plain inefficient and worse yet, exclusionary. It also risks turning charitable work into ideological signaling rather than practical problem-solving. Universal challenges are best addressed through inclusive needs-based institutions that treat people equally and allocate resources based on severity and impact. Compassion scales when it is universal and outcome-focused; it weakens when it is segmented by identity. Charity should reduce suffering, not organize it along political or social classifications.

Praying for pre-born Canadians during 40 Days for Life

As Catholics we are pro-life. As members of the human race, we are pro-life. I can't really think of anything more important than standing up for the rights of the pre-born.

Each of us can do what we can in this regard. Some of us write about abortion. Some of us advocate for changes to abortion laws. Some of us engage in all kinds of abortion activism to change the hearts of the people around us.

You might say: "But I have no special talents, there's nothing I can do to change abortion". But that is not true. Each and every Christian can do something very important, something very fundamental against the powers and principalities that are at the diabolical roots of the evil of abortion. Because that is what this is really about.

Each and every one of us can pray to end abortion in Canada. Even better than that, each and every one of us can spend some time praying in front of an abortion clinic to end abortion.

If enough of us do this, even if we are not a writer, or not an activist, or not an orator, we can spend an hour or two witnessing for pre-born children during 40 days for life. All it takes is a bit of our time, and a bit of courage. It's really really simple.

Imagine this. That every Catholic would go to an abortion clinic, or to a hospital where abortions are committed, during 40 days for life. And there, pray a Rosary. To witness for our children in the womb and ask our blessed Mother to protect them. We can change the culture. Miracles can happen. We can do this.

They can make laws to try and stop us from praying. They can and have done this. But they can't stop us from praying.

Sibling abortions, medical abortions, abortions > 14 weeks

I asked for, and received, abortion data for four Ontario regions: Hamilton, Ottawa, Peel and Toronto, for three years: 2019, 2020 and 2021. The data is for both hospitals and non-hospital settings. It is broken down by year within each city, and by abortion code.

While every abortion is a tragic reality, I am always struck by the particular evil of fetal reduction abortions (code P054). How does anyone even decide to do this? You have two children growing inside your womb, and you make the decision to kill one of them. How do you decide which child to kill? When the remaining alive child grows up, do you tell her that you killed her sister? Fetal reduction abortions:

  • There were 36 of these sibling abortions in Ottawa during these three years.
  • There were 401 of these sibling abortions in Toronto during these three years.

Then there are the > 14 weeks gestation abortions (code S785):

  • Hamilton performed 462 of these abortions during these three years.
  • Ottawa performed 598 of these abortions during these three years.
  • Peel performed 217 of these abortions during these three years.
  • Toronto performed 3,122 of these abortions during these three years.

Medical abortions seem to be increasing every year (Code A920). I guess this should not be a surprise:

  • Hamilton performed 2,497, 2,985, and 3,200 for each year = 8,682
  • Ottawa performed 1,667, 1,745, and 1,781 for each year = 5,193
  • Peel performed 621, 2,265, 3,644 for each year = 6,530
  • Toronto performed 8,035, 7,635 and 7,660 for each year - 23,330

S752 - induced - by any surgical technique up to and including 14 weeks gestation
S785 - induced - by any surgical technique after 14 weeks of gestation
A920A - MEDICAL MANAGEMENT OF EARLY PREGNANCY - INITIAL VISIT (medical abortions)
P001A - MEDICAL MGMT FETAL DEMISE BETWEEN 14-20 WKS GESTATION
P054A - selective fetal reduction of one or more fetuses by intracardiac potassium chloride injection
S770A - CORPUS UTERI - HYSTEROTOMY.
S783A - CORPUS UTERI - HYSTEROTOMY WITH TUBAL INTERRUPTION.

Harassment by police of 90 year old pro-lifer

UPDATE December 27, 2019

A friend contacted the Ottawa Police regarding this harassing behaviour by Ottawa Police. Here is the response she received from Jamie Dunlop Superintendent of the Ottawa Police:
"In regards to your request, you, and all persons are free to pray at this site while respecting the bubble zone and any other legislation that may be in effect that respects your right and the rights of others.
I am not able to comment on the veracity of the article further for privacy reasons."
So we are still allowed to pray? Too bad the police's words don't correspond to their actions.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think they call this carding?

This is a sad and disturbing story about how pro-life people in Canada are treated. We are used to being treated badly by pro-abortion people; to being marginalized by the media; to being thrown under the bus by politicians. But this is a story of police harassment of pro-life people. One of whom is a 90 year old man who calls himself a pro-life warrior.

Frank Barrett signed up for the first 40 Days for life peaceful pro-life vigil, 11 years ago. This is where people stand in silent witness and prayer in front of the abortion killing places. Originally the vigils were held around the clock, and Frank would witness for two hours in the middle of the night.

By his own words Frank says:
“I prayed and put this time in to thank God for my health, my wife, and my family. I've continued every Tuesday since then for all these years, across the street from 65 Bank St. and even continued outside the Bubble Zone until this date.”
Here is more of what what Frank told me.

On Tuesday, Oct 1, 2019, around 2:45 he was praying with his sandwich board on the corner of Bank & Queen outside the abortion bubble zone (in front of CIBC see picture below).

A police van pulled up in front of McDonalds beside 65 Bank St. Frank assumes the Officer went into 65 Bank St, then came out and watched Frank from there for a time.

Then a second police car parked behind that van, and two officers watched him for a time then came over and stood behind him. They said nothing.

Frank turned and asked the police officers if there was a problem. One officer said he was breaking the bubble zone law and wanted to see Frank's identification.

Frank replied to him, that the officer was wrong, and explained the bubble zone law to him. The officer was not interested in listening to his explanation. After a few words Frank agreed to show the officer his retired RCMP Government issued identification card. But the officer refused it, saying it was no good. Frank was upset and then showed the officer his driver's license. This was after he showed the official permit they had for the 40 days for Life

(Note: a person in Canada can still stand and pray anywhere he or she likes without producing a permit or identification. Can't they?)

The officer didn't bother to read the permit. The six others who were with Frank praying, were also asked to produce their identification. Frank felt like he was being bullied.

Frank then told the officers they did not know what they were doing. They then called their sergeant.

Another officer arrived and now there were three police officers, with three police vans with all their lights flashing,

These were seven peaceful pro-life people (one in a wheel chair), praying; outside the bubble zone; in a supposedly free and democratic society. And this is how they are treated.

Frank thought that it must have looked like they were bank robbers.

Then the sergeant spoke to the two officers and asked Frank to stand out of earshot, which he did. The sergeant then left and Frank then asked the two policeman “So what now?”

Their answer? “You can stay here for now”. (thanks for that). Then the officers left.

Here is the final kicker. When Frank went to submit his own police report to the Ottawa police, they had no record of any of this. They even tried to discourage Frank from making a report. But he did report the incident.

Frank received a confirmation of his report and was given a case number and told it could take up to 6 to 8 weeks for them to get back to him.

Ottawa Police "Ethics" policy.
“We are committed to having a highly ethical police service, to obtain public trust and maintain public confidence that we are an honourable, courageous and service-oriented police service.”
We assume that most Ottawa Police officers know how to conduct themselves with politeness and courteous actions, all the while doing their job. However these two Ottawa Police officers did not do the force credit with their heavy handed approach with peaceful pro-life people.

March for Life 2019 - the numbers

As usual, the main stream media didn't bother to report on the March for Life this year.

I did find Chief Political Correspondent for Global News David Akin's tweet about the March. Akin "reported" that 2,000-2,500 people attended the March.

I counted closer to 17,340 people at the March. (My similar count for the March of 2015 here.)

I videotaped the entire March as it progressed down Metcalfe Street.

Did Akin bother to do what a reporter should do when reporting on something, as in checking it out for himself? No. He thought taking a screenshot of a camera he wasn't holding, was an easier way to report to the entire country, how many people attended the March.

In my video clip you can see the entire march. It took longer than 22 minutes for the marchers to walk past me.

The march progressed down Metcalfe St, turned on Laurier (where I was standing), then turned up O'Connor, and back up to Parliament Hill.

Metcalfe is three lanes wide. The density of people you see in the video remained fairly constant until the end. I would guess at least 1 person per square metre. A one lane road in Ottawa is 3.5 metres wide. That's 10.5 metres wide. It is 450 metres from Wellington to Laurier where I stood. It takes six minutes to walk this distance.

The area was therefore 450 X 10.5 or 4,725 square metres. That's 4,725 people in one screen shot from my video. This means the crowd changed 3.67 times (22 / 6) because every six minutes, different people filled the screen.

That's a total of 17,340 people. Is it a perfect calculation? Probably not. But it's a lot better than the calculation made by a lazy liberal journalist who took a screenshot of Parliament Hill at 1:00. Maybe if he had bothered to get out of his chair and actually go to the March he could have seen the crowds for himself.

March for life 2018 - the real reason the police do nothing

Dear Jim Watson and Chief Bordeleau,

The reason that 125 people made it up Elgin street from Confederation Park is because our Ottawa Police stood on the west side of Elgin and watched and did absolutely nothing. Why is that? Were they told to do so by one of you?

We were lawfully protesting, with a police-approved route. These others had an illegal protest with masks and therefore should have had to stay off the roads. But they didn't.

This video is quite telling. See our police standing by for four minutes.

See more pictures of these counter protesters hiding their faces and yelling at us and this video.

Can you please explain to me and twenty thousand peaceful pro-life marchers are treated in this disdainful way? You do realize we pay taxes like these "pro-choice" people, right?

In fact, why can't you just be honest and tell us you treat us like this because we are pro-life?

Looking forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Patricia Maloney

March for life 2018

I have no problem with counter protesters at the March for Life. What I do have a problem with is that they succeed in blocking our route, courtesy of the Ottawa police. Just like last year. And the year before that. There were almost as many police as there were counter protesters; they could have easily prevented them from blocking us, but they chose not to.

If the counter protesters want to hold their own march, why don't they? I can guarantee you that we would not prevent them from doing so. Unlike these people, we would never call for an abolition of their right to protest, even though they want to end our right to protest with their slogans, their taunts, their hidden faces and their signs that read "End the March for Life".

I've let Mayor Jim Watson, my councillor Tobi Nussbaum and Ottawa police chief Charles Bordeleau know my thoughts on this. You should too. But I doubt it if I will receive a response. Just like last year.

Ottawa FOI Part 3 - Joyce Arthur compares pro-life people to neo-Nazis and white supremacists

The FOI I did regarding the pro-life flag being flown over city hall generated hundreds of letters. Most were from pro-life people, with a handful from pro-choice people.

One of the letters was from pro-abortion Joyce Arthur. No surprise there. It's quite the letter.
From: Joyce Arthur (mailto:joyce@arcc-cdac.ca)
Sent: Thursday, May 11, 2017 1:34 PM
To: Watson, Jim (Mayor/Maire)
Cc: Deans Diane; McKenney, Catherine; Wilkinson, Marianne; Fleury, Mathieu; Nussbaum, Tobi; Leiper, Jeff
Subject: Please remove anti-choice flag from City Hall TODAY
Importance: High
Dear Mayor Jim Watson,
Please immediately remove the anti-choice flag from Ottawa City Hall.
This flag is an affront to women's human rights, and I've heard visceral reactions from supporters in Ottawa who feet "sick to my stomach", "disgusted", "ashamed" and "embarrassed" that their City would disrespect women's rights in this way.
Please be more sensitive to basic human rights. As a local government, you are bound to the Charter. It is wrong and discriminatory for the City of Ottawa to fly any flag espousing a cause that would remove the constitutional rights of women and transgender people who can get pregnant. The groups behind the March for Life seek to criminalize abortion, but our Supreme Court and lower courts have found that restrictions on abortion compromise women's Charter rights to bodily security, as well as life, liberty, privacy, and conscience.
Please ask yourself whether you would fly a flag with a message from local residents who are white supremacists or neo-Nazis. We simply ask you to draw the line where it also respects women's rights, as well as the rights of group.
They are protected as a vulnerable group under human rights codes and the Charter, just like ethnic and other minorities.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Joyce Arthur

Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada (ARCC)

First, It's hard to imagine a flag that says "March for Life" could actually cause someone to feet "sick to my stomach", "disgusted", "ashamed" and "embarrassed".

Second, "Be more sensitive to human rights". Is there anything more sensitive than supporting the right to life of all human beings, not just female human beings?

Third, " It is wrong and discriminatory for the City of Ottawa to fly any flag espousing a cause that would remove the constitutional rights of women and transgender people who can get pregnant". Since there's no charter right to abortion, nobody's discriminating against women's rights. If anybody's rights are being stomped on it's our right to freedom of expression and conscience.

Finally, "white supremacists and neo-Nazis"? Has it come to this? Comparing people who support the rights of all human beings, are now being compared to one of the most despicable movements on the planet.

One final thing Joyce. The flag is not an anti-choice flag. It's a pro-life flag. I know you won't stop calling everything we do anti-choice, but you know, it is kind of pathetic.

Ottawa FOI Part 1 - Not raising the pro-life flag was a concern for city lawyer

I recently made a freedom of Information request to the city of Ottawa for all the internal emails at the city regarding the city's decision to lower the pro-life flag last year on May 11, the same day as the March for Life.

Below is an email Rick O'Connor sent to council after falling on his sword about the "error" that was made in raising the flag.
Members of Council,
A number of Members of Council have contacted me with respect to the Proclamation and flag raising for today's March for Life.
First, I want to apologize to Members of Council with respect to today's flag raising. While the City's Flag Protocol Procedures mirror the City's Proclamation Policy in many ways, a review of this matter has determined that the request for the flag raising was made by an individual. This does not meet the criteria and, when this was discovered, the flag was taken down under my authority. The Mayor has requested a review of the Flag Protocol Procedures and the City's Proclamation Policy, which will be reported back.
With respect to proclamations, all proclamations issued by the City of Ottawa are in accordance with a Policy adopted in 2002. The provisions in this policy reflect the law in Ontario with respect to proclamations, which ensures that the City's practices are in line with Ontario's Human Rights Code. The Ontario Human Rights Tribunal has ruled that, because proclamations issued by Mayors in Ontario are a service subject to the provisions of the Human Rights Code, the refusal of a Mayor to issue a proclamation may constitute a contravention of the Human Rights Code if the decision of the Mayor was based on any reason that is protected in the Code or by case law related to the Code. Therefore, based on the requirements of human rights law, most municipalities in Ontario have chosen to either eliminate the use of proclamations altogether or issue them using broad criteria. For this reason, the City of Ottawa's Policy specifically indicates a Proclamation "should not be interpreted as an endorsement by either the Mayor or the City of Ottawa."
Because the City of Ottawa chooses to issue proclamations, they are provided on request to groups where the request does not violate the Ontario Human Rights Code. Only proclamations that are contrary to the City of Ottawa's policies or bylaws, discriminatory, espousing hatred, violence or racism, illegal, not located within the boundaries of the City of Ottawa, politically or religiously motivated or intended for profit-making purposes may be refused. It should be noted that "politically or religiously motivated" means affiliated for or against specific political parties or candidates or religions.
I am attaching below an email on this topic issued by my office in 2011 to Members of Council to assist them in responding to resident inquiries for your information.
The process for issuing proclamations and approving flag raisings is overseen by the Office of Protocol to ensure that the City's policies are interpreted without a political lens and in keeping with the Ontario Human Rights Code. As the request from this anti-choice group met the test of both policies, the proclamation was issued, as it has been for many years. This is the first year the request has been made for a flag raising. It was granted on the same basis as the proclamation.
Notice how the city is quite concerned with the Human Rights Code:
"the refusal of a Mayor to issue a proclamation may constitute a contravention of the Human Rights Code if the decision of the Mayor was based on any reason that is protected in the Code or by case law related to the Code. Therefore, based on the requirements of human rights law, most municipalities in Ontario have chosen to either eliminate the use of proclamations altogether or issue them using broad criteria."
And also notice that the flag was raised based because of the same concern with the Human Rights Code.
This is the first year the request has been made for a flag raising. It was granted on the same basis as the proclamation.
You can also read the 2011 letter that O'Connor speaks about at the link above.

More on this later.

Abortion bubble zone - to Ottawa city council

Dear City of Ottawa Councillors,

From: Patricia Maloney

I just thought that you'd like to know the effect your abortion bubble zone is having on pro-life people, especially Catholics.

Your discrimination against us, is having the opposite effect of what you intended. What it means is that we are making more of an effort to go to the abortion site and pray there.

Sincerely,

Patricia Maloney

Life Chain in Ottawa

A few pictures from Life Chain yesterday at the corner of Montreal Rd. and St. Laurent Blvd.

A lot of people approved of what we were doing. And as usual there were a few who swore and yelled at us, and used the customary profanity. One guy yelled at me and said that he wished my mother had eaten me at birth. Not sure what that even means. I'm pretty sure it wasn't meant as a compliment though.

One women did a lot of screaming at us. She ripped one sign in half, and tore two other signs out of our people's hands. She was not happy with us. I said a prayer for her.

Ironic how the city will be banning pro-life people from protesting in front of the Morgentaler abortuary because they say we are violent.

As usual our two priests were there in full support of pre-born children and their mothers.

Thanks to Maureen for these pictures.

Jim Watson - tell us what you really think

By Patricia Maloney

This is what Mayor Jim Watson thinks about pro-life people. He starts out discussing raising the pro-life flag at city hall and how it is unacceptable and how he and everyone else at city hall supports a "woman's right to choose". At the end of the clip Watson switches to discussing the bubble zone he wants to put around the abortion clinic and tells us what he really thinks of pro-life people:
"In the 21st century it's just not acceptable to have that kind of behaviour in a civilized society."
No wonder the mayor wouldn't respond to my emails. We are not worthy of a response because our behaviour is unacceptable

Double standard alive and well for pro-life people

By Patricia Maloney

Mayor Jim Watson and my councillor Tobi Nussbaum never had the courtesy to answer my question as to why our rights of peaceful protest were ignored when the Ottawa Police re-routed the March for Life. Mind you I'm used to politicians not answering my questions since apparently we don't deserve the same respect as other people.

Now Watson is asking for a bubble zone. Christie Blatchford's take on this in today's National Post:
"Let it never be said that the state is shy about using an elephant gun to kill a flea.
I give you the latest musings of Ontario Attorney General Yasir Naqvi, who this week announced that next fall, his government is going to legislate “safe access zones” around abortion clinics to “help ensure the safety and privacy of women, visitors and health-care workers travelling to and from these facilities.”
Naqvi, who represents a downtown Ottawa riding where a Morgentaler Clinic is located, alluded to recent “serious instances of intimidation, harassment and even assault” towards patients there. Urging the province to act were Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and Catherine Macnab of Planned Parenthood Ottawa.
Perhaps there’s a real issue in Ottawa, though there has been little hard reporting of it. Some protesters there wear sandwich boards featuring photos of lurid and cut-up bodies, and yell at patients that they are killing their babies, clinic staff say."
Good point. If there's been so many problems at the Morgentaler facility, where is all the reporting of it? And if there are bone-fide problems why don't the police deal with them? Like they do everywhere else there are harassment problems?

In fact in 2012 abortion doctor Wendy Norman said this in her study Abortion health services in Canada:
“Facilities reported very little harassment. No Canadian facility reported a resignation of an abortion provider–physician or any staff member owing to harassment. Only a single facility reported any resignation of an allied health professional staff member, and in this case the facility specified that the one resignation was not owing to violence, fear, or threats. Similarly, two-thirds of reporting facilities (49 of 74, 66.2%) indicated no episodes of harassment or violence in 2012, with a further 28.4% (21 of 74) reporting solely picketing without interference. Among 7 facilities reporting “other” episodes of harassment, half specified only receipt of harassing e-mail.”
So if one of Canada's premier abortion doctors says there is virtually no harassment or problems at abortion facilities, why is Yasir Naqvi and Jim Watson using an elephant gun to to kill a flea? It's because there are two sets of standards in "civilized" society today. One set for pro-life people. And one set for everybody else.

March for Life 2017 - we will never give up

I was very discouraged after returning yesterday from the March for Life.

Every year we do this march, but last year, and now this year, our city approved route was to go down Elgin St. past the Human Rights monument. We believe in human rights for preborn children.

But we were diverted at Albert St. because of other protesters. I took one of their brochures. Oh. And one of them told me she didn't want me video taping her. I ignored her.

The police told us we were diverted to prevent a confrontation with these other protesters. The thing is, the thousands of us are peaceful. So there certainly wouldn't have been a confrontation from us, but rather from these 50 or so threatening, screaming, masked protesters who didn't have the courage to show their faces.

Why did we have to be diverted because these others were allowed to prevent our charter right to peacefully protest? Why didn't the police divert them instead? Because the police knew they wouldn't get lip from us. But they would from these others.

And these people were threatening: they originally stood on the corner of Elgin and Slater; then they began to cross and then stood in the middle of the street (with police allowing this); then we were diverted; then when this wasn't enough for these aggressive people, they headed north on Elgin towards where we were being diverted. Reinforcement police came running past us towards these masked people to prevent them from encountering us.

And what were our city councillors doing all this time? They were complaining that a pro-life flag was being flown at city hall.

Our councillors were "outraged" at this. I am not making this up. They were outraged. They didn't like our "individual conviction" to stand up and speak out for preborn children who cannot speak for themselves; who are defenceless; who are killed every year in the thousands by abortion--and who don't have any city councillors brave enough to speak up or out for them. (Catherine McKenney, Diane Deans, Marianne Wilkonson, Tobi Nussbaun, Jeff Lieper, Mathieu Fleury, Jan Harder, followed by Jim Watson who then cowed to them and removed our flag)

But this morning I woke up and I felt much better. I remembered what Cardinal Collins said yesterday at the pro-life Mass at St. Pat's Basilica. We are to use our talents in the pro-life cause. We are not to be discouraged.

We will continue to speak up and to march in defence of preborn children and their mothers. With a flag or without a flag.

I videotaped the whole march. Thanks to Maureen for downloading it.

Dear Blessed Mother Mary please pray for Canada

My sister Maureen put together this amazing site on the Marian Congress Ottawa 1947.

There were 200,000 attendees in Ottawa for the congress. An amazing number of people considering that Ottawa itself only had a population of 200,000. I wonder if there were a Congress held today if numbers of 100% of Ottawa's population (almost a million people) would attend a similar congress?

Devotion to Our Lady is even more important today than it ever was. Canada really needs her intervention for abortion and assisted suicide.

From newspaper articles on Maureen's site:
"...In his closing remarks the Pontiff said. “Take courage and know that the Immaculate Mother of God had appealed to her Divine Son so that the repentance of the world will bring redemption"
“...Let the sin laden soul take courage and know that a mother’s heart filled with mercy is pleading with her divine Son for the needed grace of repentance and forgiveness. Let growing youth of both sexes know that loving mother’s eyes are always on them.
No path of circumstances is hidden from her anxious care. Go forward, then with determination, o dear young men and young women, vindicate the glory of your Immaculate Mother. In the face of a vicious world prove that young hearts can still be chaste. And oh, how much depends on the genuine active Catholicity of the home!”
...The Message of the Marian Congress: Intercession with the Mother of God to obtain from her Divine Son, a lasting world peace was the keynote of all the addresses delivered by world known prelates during the Congress.
In his sermon, a high point of the congress, Archbishop John D’Alton, of Armagh, Irish Primate, said that in this age “of moral anarchy” the world had great need of Mary’s example. She was the ideal mother in the Ideal home.
