Does anyone believe Patrick Brown?

Dear Patrick Brown,

Do you remember when you told people you were pro-life, then threw us under the bus, because you weren't really pro-life? We remember that very well.

And do you remember when you told people you were against the sex-ed curriculum, but you weren't? We remember that too.

And now you want us to believe that you support free speech rights? 

Sorry Patrick, but you've cooked your goose just once too often. I'd say that goose is pretty darned burnt right now. I'm also pretty certain not a single social conservative will vote for you this time. Maybe we were stupid then, but we aren't that stupid anymore.

Take what happened to my colleague, Pierre Poilievre, for example.

When Pierre brought his campaign to a brewery in Toronto, the company was forced to take the extraordinary step of issuing a public statement saying they don’t support his political views.

Then, another brewery also distanced themselves from Pierre after he referenced their product in a video.

Many in the media – and even Conservatives – said these incidents prove Pierre is unelectable and cannot win a general election.

To me, that’s not the point.

I disagree with Pierre about lots of things, like his support for banning religious symbols, imposing a snitch line for cultural communities, and Quebec’s Bill 21.

But let me be 100% clear. I will always defend Pierre’s right to free speech – even when I disagree with him.

I’ll fight for his rights, just like I’ll fight for yours, and the rights of every Canadian with the courage to speak out about the things they believe in.

Social conservatives of Canada - buy a membership for CPC leadership

We social conservatives never give up. We keep on trucking. We never stop defending the unborn. We never stop defending parents' right to decide on the sex-ed curriculum for their children.

Next May 2017 we have the opportunity to vote for the next leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. It's a crowded contingency of leadership hopefuls. But there are really only two candidates who will support what we believe in, that is, true social conservative values: Pierre Lemieux and Brad Trost. Even though Andrew Scheer is pro-life he won't have reopen abortion debate.

I always laugh when I hear Justin Trudeau talk about Canadian values. The values he talks about are not my values--never have been and never will be.

This is really really important that we make our votes count in this leadership race. I did today when my husband and I bought a membership and supported Pierre Limieux. Here is Brad Trost's donation page.

All of the votes for a candidate who holds our values will count in the party, regardless as to who wins. Our membership tells the party that we matter. All social conservatives need to buy a membership for one of these candidates. Every single one of us needs to do this. We can't just say we support social conservative candidates, we need to put our hands into our wallets and pull out $15 and buy a membership.

I am happy to see that MPP Monte McNaughton is still speaking out against Kathleen Wynne's radical sex-ed curriculum. Nice to know that McNaughton still stands behind his principles on the subject.

Unlike Patrick Brown, he of throwing-us-under-the bus fame.

Did you catch Christina Blizzard's article in the Toronto Sun this weekend? Her article, entitled Parents Opting for Private Schools over sex-ed curriculum, revealed just the latest chapter in Kathleen Wynne’s ongoing sex-education controversy:

127 new private schools have opened in Ontario since 2015.  

127 new schools for parents who believe that the public system cannot give their children the education they wish their children to receive. How do I know that the spike in enrollments is related to the sex-ed issue? Well, because parents all over Ontario have been telling me this for the past year, and I have been listening.

This afternoon at Queen’s Park, I asked Education Minister Mitzie Hunter to release the full statistics on how many students have left the public school system for the private system, the total enrollment in those private schools, as well as the total number of private schools operating in Ontario annually since 2006.

The people of Ontario deserve to know just how much Premier Kathleen Wynne has fractured the public education system with the reckless way her new sex-education curriculum was developed and implemented.

A message for Kathleen Wynne and Patrick Brown

In Fr. Dennis's homily at Mass today he told us the three things he always prays for when there is an election:

1) For the protection of life from the moment of conception until natural death
2) For traditional marriage and the family
3) For religious freedom

Good advice that I will remember. Especially timely, with our upcoming by-election in Ottawa-Vanier where  Elizabeth de Viel Castel is running for the new STOP THE NEW SEX ED AGENDA party.

Ottawa-Vanier - send a message to Patrick Brown

We social conservatives are a naive bunch.

First there was Stephen Harper. We thought he was pro-life. So we voted for him. Then he became leader of the party and he did nothing. And we said, well wait until he gets elected as prime minister. And he did with a minority government and he did nothing. And we said, well wait until he gets a majority. Then he got a second larger minority government and he did nothing. Then we said, well let's wait until he gets a majority. And he did. And he did nothing.

Suckers.

Next we had Patrick Brown who we thought was a social conservative. So we voted for him. He was against the sex education curriculum and abortion. Then he got elected. And now he's "changed his mind".

Suckers.

Notice the pattern here? Politicians who get elected because they court social conservatives, and we vote for them. Then once they get elected they turn their backs on us. I guess they think we are really stupid and that well, "hey if they don't vote for me who else will they vote for, the Liberals haha?" So we don't know what to do and we vote for them.

Suckers.

Well not this time.

In Ottawa Vanier we will be voting for a new MPP after Madeleine Meilleur decided to leave. I was going to vote for Andre Marin. In fact I have his sign in front of my house. After all, who else could I vote for--the Liberal candidate and get another Madeleine Meilleur who had no idea why her government decided to hide abortion information and probably still doesn't? I don't think so.

So I decided to vote for Elizabeth de Viel Castel, an actual social conservative who is against Kathleen Wynne's sex ed curriculum and abortion.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Let's not get fooled again.

Patrick Brown and his under the bus philosophy

It's people like Patrick Brown who give politicians a bad name:

“Frankly, I’m very comfortable with the fact there’s been a falling out. I don’t lose any sleep over the fact that  and Campaign Life are upset,” the PC leader said, adding he now regrets voting against same-sex marriage and abortion when he was a Conservative MP. 

“If Charles McVety wants his ten bucks back for membership, he can have it. If he wants to vote for someone else, he can vote for someone else, so be it,” he said. 

“Frankly, I think they take more credit for any part of my leadership campaign than is merited. I went out and signed up 45,000 members.”

Back in December 2014, I sent an email to a couple of politicians expressing my concern over the Liberals sex-ed curriculum. Almost immediately after I sent the email, Patrick Brown emailed me back from his personal email address (like he did to CLC) asking me for my phone number. I gave it to him and he called me back. He told me in no uncertain terms that he was against the sex-ed curriculum. I asked him at the time if he was also concerned about the Liberals decision to hide abortion information. He told me he was for open access to information, although any further emails I sent him on this subject, remained unanswered (that should have been my first clue to PB's philosophy).

I subsequently bought a membership for myself and my husband and we voted for him for the leadership, which he won. I know many many others who did the same.

It's pretty easy to tell people what they want to hear if you if you don't need to worry about keeping your promises. Because once you've won, well there isn't much they can do about it is there?

Did Patrick Brown sign up 45,000 members? Or did we do it for him?

And Patrick? Johnathon Van Maren has some good advice for you:

"Social conservatives, as I’ve written before, are not numerous enough to single-handedly put someone in office. However, we are numerous enough to ruin the career of someone like Patrick Brown, who has managed to lie to us, betray us, call us intolerant bigots, and then shruggingly suggest we vote for someone else in the confidence that we won’t. If we keep letting politicians like Patrick Brown treat us like that, we are simply ensuring that no politician will ever take us seriously, because they can have their cake and eat it too—they can get so-con votes while telling the Toronto downtown elites that they think we’re kind of repulsive. I think it’s time for social conservatives to show that we care more about putting someone Conservative in power. We have real concerns that need to be addressed, and if Patrick Brown is an impediment to that, then we should treat him as such."

Good luck Patrick in trying to get anyone to believe you ever again. I think you're going to need it.

Kathleen Wynne's government makes numbers up

All day on CFRA today I listened to the news say that Kathleen Wynne's Liberals had consulted with 4000 parents over the new sex-ed curriculum. 

According to a freedom of information request done by Postmedia: not true.

In fact there were only 1,638 consultations done. And look at the questions that were asked, as reported by Sun media:

"...However, it’s not as if they could get any results that didn’t appear supportive of the new sex-ed changes. The questions were too broad for that. 

Here’s one: “It is important that curriculum is reviewed and updated regularly to keep up with the changing skills and knowledge children and youth need to thrive in today’s world.” Who’s going to say no to a statement like that? That’s why 85% of respondents strongly agreed and another 13% somewhat agreed. 

The same goes for this softball: “It is important to me that the school curriculum supports students in having the knowledge and skills that allow them to make healthy, safe and informed choices.” (84% strongly agree.) 

What’s the point of shelling out $19,000 to an external contractor to get responses to these vague statements? There isn’t a single question that’s specifically about the contents of the sex-ed curriculum. 

The closest was: “I believe that the school should teach my child about both the risks of sexual activities and about ways to make safe and healthy choices regarding their sexual health.” Only 59% of respondents strongly agreed with the statement. 

Postmedia reported last year that, according to the ministry, “Information gleaned from the parent survey will be used, along with work already done developing the previous curriculum, to draw up the new version which will be in place for the start of the next school year.”
Clearly that was bogus, considering the survey didn’t address anything specific about the sex-ed components of the curriculum. 

There was, however, one question that wasn’t all mush: “How much would you say you trust each of the following sources of health information, in terms of providing reliable and accurate information on sexual health to your child(ren).”

The options included four authority figures: Parents, doctors/nurses, public health officials and school curriculum/teachers. 

The teachers came last. In terms of which category parents consider “very trustworthy,” they put themselves at 87%, with doctors following close behind at 83%. Teachers scored a lousy 40%. 

In other words, survey respondents believe parents are the most reliable source to provide sex-ed to children."

I suppose this shouldn't surprise us. After all this sex-ed curriculum is brought to you by the same bunch who hides abortion information in Ontario: Kathleen Wynne's Liberals.

Make numbers up, hide numbers, it's all the same for this crowd of incompetents running the zoo over there in Queen's Park.
