National Abortion Federation never reported Kermit Gosnell's clinic and now receives Canadian tax dollars

This story is frightening: Kermit Gosnell killed women and children. Ann McElhinney did a six part podcast on this real life horror story.

Kermit Gosnell was a serial killer, a major drug dealer, a fraudster, a liar and who knows what else. Not only did he kill women and snip the necks of born children, he taught his non-medical staff to provide copious amounts of drugs to women (illegally) before their abortions. He also taught them how to kill the babies. His staff would do this when Gosnell wasn't present, as he usually didn't come to work until the evening. That's when Gosnell did the very late abortions himself.

Here is the grand jury report on this story, 281 pages detailing all manner of evil.

The report details how numerous agencies and health professionals ignored/did nothing regarding this house of horrors when they should have. In particular:

  • Department of Health lawyers at the Pennsylvania Department of State
  • The Philadelphia Department of Public Health
  • Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and its subsidiary, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center
  • Centers for Disease Control
  • Fellow doctors
  • The National Abortion Federation
A few quotes from the report:
"We discovered that Pennsylvania’s Department of Health has deliberately chosen not to enforce laws that should afford patients at abortion clinics the same safeguards and assurances of quality health care as patients of other medical service providers. Even nail salons in Pennsylvania are monitored more closely for client safety... Most appalling of all, the Department of Health’s 138 neglect of abortion patients’ safety and of Pennsylvania laws is clearly not inadvertent: It is by design."

"The problem with the Departments of State and Health is not that they lacked authority to end the crime spree that Gosnell and his staff passed off as practicing medicine. The problem is that the state overseers preferred not to exercise their authority. They chose to look the other way.'"

"Supervisors in the Division of Disease Control ignored a nurse’s disturbing report about conditions in Gosnell’s clinic in 2008 and 2009."

"The Philadelphia Health Department’s Environmental Engineering Section failed to follow through after receiving a complaint in 2003 about aborted fetuses stored in an employee refrigerator."

"FELLOW DOCTORS WHO OBSERVED THE RESULTS OF GOSNELL’S RECKLESS AND CRIMINAL PRACTICES FAILED TO REPORT HIM TO AUTHORITIES."

"After reviewing extensive and compelling evidence of criminal wrongdoing at the clinic, the Grand Jury has issued a presentment recommending the prosecution of Gosnell and members of his staff for criminal offenses including: • Murder of Karnamaya Mongar • Murders of babies born alive • Infanticide • Violations of the Controlled Substances Act • Hindering, Obstruction, and Tampering • Perjury • Illegal late-term abortions • Violations of the Abortion Control Act • Violations of the Controlled Substances Act • Abuse of Corpse • Theft by Deception • Conspiracy • Corrupt Organization • Corruption of Minors"

Canadians should take particular note of the National Abortion Federation:

"A national association of abortion providers declined to admit the Women’s Medical Society [Kermit Gosnell's abortion clinic] as a member, finding it to be the worst facility its inspector had ever seen...the evaluator from NAF readily noted that records were not properly kept, that risks were not explained, that patients were not monitored, that equipment was not available, that anesthesia was misused. It was the worst abortion clinic she had ever inspected. Of course, she rejected Gosnell’s application. She just never told anyone in authority about all the horrible, dangerous things she had seen." (emphasis added)

In fact NAF supposedly:

"is an association of abortion providers that upholds the strictest health and legal standards for its members." (emphasis added)

Yet the NAF inspector didn't tell anyone about the problems she witnessed there.

And guess what? This year Health Canada gave funding to NAF Canada (NAF is now active here) in the amount of $1,469,150. Even though their inspector witnessed first hand problems with Gosnell's clinic, they never reported it to anyone. They just turned a blind eye. And now Canada is giving them our tax dollars.

I don't know about you, but I find this fact pretty disturbing.

Conservatives - Tell a story, change the world

This is an excellent talk by Ann McElhinney given at the Heritage Resource Bank. It's about 35 minutes long.

Ann is the maker of the upcoming Gosnell documentary. Kermit Gosnell was the biggest serial killer in American history.

If you haven't already donated to the Gosnell movie, Ann asks that you donate just one dollar. (But this is not the main point of her talk.)

Ann tells us how the left makes movies, and their movies contain the left's messages. We see it all the time. Their "story" is always part of the movie.

We need to learn from the left to get our own messages out (I can't believe I'm saying that but it is true). We have to tell our stories. Just like they do.

The murderer was only an abortion doctor

From Ezra Levant in the Toronto Sun.
"...Why were the benches in the courtroom, set aside for media, nearly empty, week after week?
The answer is obvious: Because the murderer was an abortion doctor, in an abortion clinic, committing hundreds of late-term, partial-birth abortions and full-birth murders, usually of minorities, usually paid for by taxpayers.
That sort of horror story would sell. Too well. Because it would undermine the official narrative that abortions can't be criticized, that late-term abortions are a myth, that it's all safe and sound and medically approved and happy. That happy left-wing pro-abortion narrative would be damaged by reports of a multimillionaire abortionist, getting rich off murder, operating in the system for decades.
So, the story itself was aborted.
Enter filmmakers Phelim McAleer, Ann McElhinney and Magda Segieda. They have decided to do what Big Hollywood won't: To make a true crime TV movie about Kermit Gosnell.
They're raising $2.1 million, not from Hollywood studios, but online. They're crowd-funding it, in thousands of little contributions from ordinary Americans and Canadians.
Do you think this movie should be made? If so, you can help make it. Go to www.GosnellMovie.com. It's a story that must be told."

Abortion-rights advocates ran away from Gosnell

Saw this in today's National Post. Here it is from the Washington Post by Charles Krauthammer.

Krauthammer is talking about a strategy for Republicans. Now if we had a political party in Canada who had any backbone, we could easily do this in Canada.

Since we don't have a political party with backbone on life issues, this strategy can be used by pro-lifers themselves. That's us, people.
"...Yet there is a very simple, straightforward strategy for seizing the high ground on abortion in a way that transcends the normal divisions and commands wide popular support: Focus on the horror of late-term abortion — and get it banned.
Last year’s Kermit Gosnell trial was a seminal moment. The country was shown a baby butcher at work and national sentiment was nearly unanimous. Abortion-rights advocates ran away from Gosnell. But they can’t hide from the issue.
And the issue, as most succinctly defined by the late liberal Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, is infanticide. Describing one form of late-term abortion known as partial-birth, Moynihan said: “I had once remarked that the procedure was too close to infanticide. And now we have testimony that it is not just too close to infanticide, it is infanticide.” How else to describe crushing the infant’s skull in mid-delivery before the head leaves the birth canal?"
Calling late-term abortion what it is: a living, viable, pain-feeling human being being killed. Infanticide.
"Stay away from the minefield of gender politics. Challenge the other side on substance. And watch them lose."

North America is going to Hell in a handbasket

More from Brian Lilley on the Gosnell story. Brian interviews Lila Rose from Live Action.

Defense Attorney Jack McMahon said:
"If we are going to say a baby is born alive because it moves the one time without any other movement, that is ludicrous."

Lila says:
"Gosnell is not an outlier. Gosnell is not alone. There are over a thousand children every year who survive the brutal late term abortions. We have a lot more Gosnells."

Brian notes our own born alive abortions here in Canada.

And President Obama won't even comment on Gosnell. No wonder. He's too busy cozying up to Planned Parenthood:
"No matter how great the challenge, how fierce the opposition, if there's one thing the past few years have shown is that Planned Parenthood is not going anywhere. As long as we've got to fight to make sure women have access to quality, affordable health care, and as long as we've got to fight to protect a woman's right to make her own choices about her own health, I want you to know that you've also got a president who's right there with you fighting every step of the way."

When you have a president who is so committed to the abortion business, it's not hard to see where things are going.

Of course here in Canada our own Prime Minister Stephen Harper won't even let us debate abortion in (our) Parliament.

The gap between who gets to live, and who we choose to kill, seems to be getting smaller and smaller. With an American President and a Canadian Prime Minister who are anything but role models on the life issue, who knows where it will all end? Will we wake up before it's too late? I hope so.

The Gosnell case: why aren't we talking about it?

Brian Lilley lamented that there hasn't been much media overage on the Gosnell story, himself included.

I haven't blogged about it either. Why? It think it's because the story is so horrendous it depresses me. It's also hard to know even what to say about it. How people can travel so far down the slippery abortion slope into what happened, is almost impossible to comprehend.

Yet anyone who discusses the Gosnell case are aghast. Last night I listened to two men in a restaurant who were watching CNN coverage of the case. The sound wasn't on the TV but CNN has text on their screen so it was obvious what they were discussing. The two men watching were totally shocked and disgusted at what they were seeing. One of them didn't know about the case and when the other man was explaining to him what it was; he was incredulous. They both were. We all are.

But I think society is becoming totally inured to abortion because it has become so normalized in society, so celebrated, and so status quo. I have a pro-choice friend who won't even discuss abortion with me. This is what he said to me regarding the abortion debate:
"Its old, tired, based highly on religion and emotion, and when all is said and done, it just plain doesn't matter to me. At least not as long as our society leaves me the right to make my own choices and live life as I please."

That sentiment makes me very sad. But I think that is where we find ourselves now when we can't get people to talk about it. Maybe people think that the Gosnell story is just another abortion story. And they just don't care.

Brian Lilley says that the story deserves more coverage and:
"On Byline we will fix that on Monday. A potential guest fell through for this week but on Monday we have booked Lila Rose of Live Action to talk about this deeply disturbing but very important story."

Abortion is a civil rights issue

Follow the horrible case of the Kermit Gosnell and his disgusting Philadelphia slaughterhouse.

"Make no mistake, abortion is a civil rights issue."

"It's all about the money. It's all about greed."
