Top 25 largest, wealthiest, worst pro-death groups in Canada

Compare and contrast pro-death charities with pro-life charities.

I looked at 25 pro-death Canadian charities. On average, they depend on government grants for 69% of their revenue. Their receipted donations ($3,880,807only amount to 7% of their revenue. They received $39,239,005 in grants, or an average of $1,569,560 per charity.

I looked at 15 pro-life Canadian charities. Pro-life charities on average depend on government grants for only .33% of their revenue and depend on 65% of their income on receipted donations ($14,699,109). (Only three of the 15 actually received government funding.) They received a total of $73,558 in grants for those three charities.

(NOTE: all charities also receive revenue from Non-receipted donations, Gifts from other registered charities, and other revenue).

In other words, the pro-deathers probably wouldn't be in the death business at all, if they were not so heavily dependent on government grants. It is a very lucrative business to be in the killing business. Tax dollars literally flow into your income statement by the millions, thanks to Justin Trudeau and his support for abortion and MAID. And I'm not talking about the millions and millions used to do the actual killing part for abortions and MAID deaths. No, I am only talking about the government grants to those who promote/advocate/celebrate the killing.

Pro-death charities

Pro-life charities

Thanks to these very lucrative government grants, the pro-deathers push their killing agenda which also includes attacking pro-life charities. Kind of sickening isn't it?

Definition of a charity"Your organization's purposes must fall within one or more of these categories
  • advancement of education
  • advancement of religion
  • certain other purposes that benefit the community in a way the courts have said is charitable"
So where does killing people fit into those three categories?

Quebec has more late-term born-alive abortions than the rest of Canada

Andrea Mrozek writes about the recent study out of Quebec on born-alive abortions.

'The kicker for Canadians is that the study sample was 13,777 abortions done between 1989 and 2021 in Quebec. This means that over 32 years, about 430 abortions resulted in live births every single year in that province.'

These late term abortions also happen every year, in every other province in Canada. I have been collecting this data for many years from CIHI, but CIHI never reports on Quebec data. Now we know that there is an average of 430 of these late-term abortions in Quebec every year. This is a staggering number. It is also way higher than the number of late-term born-alive abortions in the rest of Canada (there were 131 in the rest of Canada in 2022/2023).

Only 5.5% of these born alive abortions received palliative care.

'In analyses of live births, one-quarter of neonates (24.5%) were admitted to an intensive care unit and 5.5% received palliative care.'

Abort late-term baby. Abortion fails. Baby is born-alive. Don't give it palliative care. This is just plain evil.

Canada spends $6,496,076 on 'pride' in 2023

In 2023 Canada doled out $6,496,076 to the 'pride' ideology. That's a hefty increase to the previous three years when we spent $12,548,238 (for the three years during Covid 2020-2022 for an average of $4,182,746 a year. Also note that this money does not include the millions and millions spent on all things LGBTQ, but only 'pride' as in parades, festivals etc.)

I like this particular gem of $1.5 million given to Vancouver to combat 'the rise of hate':

'This 10-month project will address the rise of hate towards the 2SLGBTQIA+ community by supporting the Pride events teams and organizers across the country. This will be achieved through the redistribution of funds to pride events to increase their safety and security and the creation and implementation of training and resources on events safety available to Fierté Canada Pride’s network and beyond.'

Program name and purpose:

'Equality for Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression Program

The purpose of ESSOGIE program is to advance social, political and economic equality with respect to sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Advancement towards a greater understanding of the intersection of sex and gender with other identity factors that include race, national and ethnic origin, Indigenous origin or identity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic condition, place of residence and disability are encouraged under the Program.'

Hiding government abortion spending

I think we can file this blog under the title misinformation. Or maybe sneaky. Or how about, we are spending your tax dollars on abortion and don't want you to find it where we publish all other government spending?

I have done a lot of research using the Grants and Contributions database for things like 'reproductive health', 'pride', 'LGBTQetc'. That's how I learn how our tax dollars are being spent on Justin Trudeau's favourite ideologies.

Then there's this: Faculty of Medicine researchers have received $3.8 million from the Government of Canada to address barriers to abortion access for underserved populations.

But when I went to look in the G&C database to see this funding, I couldn't find it listed. I tried numerous combinations of words, but no, the funding wouldn't show up. So I then contacted the program itself. They said:

"The research project you reference is funded by the Government of Canada’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund. You can learn more about the fund in the federal government’s news release for this fundingIf you have any questions about the Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund, we recommend contacting the Government of Canada."

So down the rabbit hole I went, emailing the Minister of Health, the Deputy Minister, and others. Finally I got a response. I received two links: Initial Funding | Renewal of Funding to the G&C database. (I didn't even know about the second one). The first one is for $3,833,486 and the second one for $1,287,991 for a total of $5,121,477.

Now please take careful note of the description of this funding in the G&C database:

"Description: To support the federal government’s commitment to maintain a strong and effective publicly funded health care system through investments in emerging and demonstrated innovations in priority areas, such as palliative and end-of-life care, home and community care, mental health care and other federal, provincial-territorial and emerging priorities."

There is nothing about addressing barriers to abortion access for underserved populations. In fact, what has palliative care and end-of-life have to do with abortion access? No wonder I couldn't find the funding.

So what other abortion funding is Justin Trudeau hiding in the G&C database?

There's no stopping Canada's euthanasia lobby

Another ATIP.

Dying with Dignity is in the business of promoting the killing of people through euthanasia. This is why they exist. In 2023 they joined with Dr. Anvita Dixit and Joyce Arthur to write a report Exploring the impact of belief-based denial of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) on those seeking services: A multi-methods qualitative study in Canada. The study is focused on conscientious objection, which is a huge problem for those in the euthanasia business. If doctors are allowed to follow their consciences and or, not provide an effective referral to kill their patients, less people will be euthanized.

This study received a $25,000 grant. Here is an excerpt of DWDC's letter to SSHRC explaining their participation in this study:

"We aim to establish foundational information about effects of “conscientious objection” that can serve as a baseline for other projects and future research. Our goal is to publish at least one peer-reviewed journal article on belief-based care denial of MAiD to motivate further research both in Canada and abroad to determine the extent of harms caused to patients by this practice. Further, we anticipate that the research undertaken as a part of this grant will inform DWDC’s evidence-based advocacy strategy dedicated to limiting or prohibiting belief-based care denial in general. This grant will further the understanding of “conscientious objection” from uOttawa’s and ARCCs current SSHRC-funded study on belief-based care denial of abortion and contraception." (emphasis added)

Imagine any sane person talking about the harms caused by conscientious objection?

Joyce Arthur's ARCC is even offering a $40 Amazon gift certificate for participants in the study.

DWDC's Helen Long and Kelsey Goforth will devote their time on an in-kind basis of $12,500 to the study. DWDC will pay this in-kind donation; it will not come out of the pocket of Helen Long who earned between $200,000 and $249,000 in 2023.

The euthanasia business, just like the abortion business, is all about the money.

To know more about DWDC's agenda including euthanasia for mental illness, listen to Jonathon Van Maren's recent interview with Canada's expert on euthanasia, Alex Schadenberg.

Pro-abort gets tax dollars to promote reproductive justice

F.L. Jessica Ball from the University of Victoria wrote a paper with Joyce Arthur, and received $28,792 in government funding from SSHRC to do it: Abortion Attitudes and Access: Building A Canadian Framework for Reproductive Justice.

I couldn't find the report published on-line (why isn't it on-line?) but I did receive the report in an ATIP I did to SSHRC.

The pro-aborts want to progress from reproductive rights (mentioned 31 times in the report) to reproductive justice (mentioned 73 times in the report). Must be important.

A couple of key fabrications in the report.

  • The author states three times in her tax-payer funded report, that there is a Charter right to abortion. There is no Charter right to abortion in Canada.
  • The author states that Pierre Poilievre has been rated as pro-life by Arthur's ARCC. Pierre Poilievre has publicly stated he is pro-choice. Nope. Not pro-life.
  • The author references a study by Laroche and Foster on pregnancy care centres in Ontario and their 'deceptive tactics'. This study was done in 2015 but the public can't see it unless they want to pay for it. In any case, since then there have been volumes written debunking this infamous pro-abortion myth.
  • The author states "They [ARCC] is a charitable organization". No it isn't.
  • This is interesting. According to the report: "The University of British Columbia’s Contraception and Abortion Research Team (CART) was awarded $3.8 million from the Government of Canada to develop resources for underserved populations seeking abortion and to establish a national training platform for healthcare professionals, focusing on destigmatized and contextually appropriate abortion care (University of British Columbia, 2023)." But the grants and contributions database does not report this funding. Why not?
  • The author uses the phrase 'pregnant person' 15 times. Everyone knows that only women get pregnant.

I wonder if a pro-life researcher could receive $28,792 to write the report Why do the pro-aborts keep getting millions of dollars and we get zero dollars?

Joyce Arthur: lobbying, grants ($78,792) and brothels

It's common knowledge that Joyce Arthur advises the government on all things pro-abortion revealed through numerous ATIPs that I've done. (i.e. her lobbying to remove funding for summer jobs program for pro-life groups, her relentless attacks on Pregnancy Care Centres, which began with her $27,400 government grant to write a witch hunt of a report against pregnancy care centres, to name just two examples)

Here are a few other examples of her lobby efforts to government:

1) From this government document Family-centred maternity and newborn care: National guidelines, under a chapter on Loss and Grief, they actually refer to Arthur's Why women have abortions. The document is supposed to be about maternity and newborn care, and all of a sudden we're talking about why women have abortions. Why is the government referring to a pro-abortion document from Arthur when the government document is supposedly about family centred maternity and newborn care?

2) Joyce Arthur's 2021 election spending of $9,984.00. Most of the money went to salaries for her and her pro-abortion friends. More pro-abortion lobbying during an election.

3) Next we have Joyce Arthur advocating for four brothels at the 2010 Olympics. I am not kidding. Thankfully saner heads prevailed when the Conservative government said that it was
"not in the business of legalizing brothels"
and would not approve the initiative.

4) Joyce Arthur the lobbyist: From here you can see that she received funding of $11,000 in 2023 from SSHRC

When I did an ATIP on this to Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), I was told that
"Joyce Arthur did not receive funds from SSHRC. Joyce Arthur was listed as a collaborator on a Partnership Engage Grant (PEG) and a Knowledge Synthesis Grant (KSG)".
But I was unable to find which grant she was collaborating on for this $11,000 amount. I'm waiting for a clarification from the ATIP office.

I did find three other SSHRC grants where Arthur was a collaborator or a partner. Notice that the first one is with Dying with Dignity the pro-death lobbying group.
1) Exploring the impact of belief-based denial of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) on those seeking services: A multi-methods qualitative study in Canada (emphasis added).
2) Exploring the impact of belief-based denial of contraceptive or abortion care on those seeking services: A multi-methods qualitative study in Canada (emphasis added)

The pro-deathers are getting government grant money to target belief based (read Christian) non-acceptance of killing children in the womb and old sick people. I can tell you why Christians don't believe in killing people in one short sentence. You don't need $50,000 to figure it out. Just ask us: Killing people is wrong, evil, unethical and immoral.

3) Abortion Attitudes and Access: Building A Canadian Framework for Reproductive Justice
What kind of stupidity is this? We have so much freaking 'reproductive justice' in this country with the pro-aborts already getting gazillions of dollars in government funding, plus fully funded free on-demand abortions, that now they just have to come up with new and ridiculous made-up reasons to get more tax-payer money to fund their pro-death ideology. Welcome to Canada.

CTV misleads Canadians on late-term born alive abortions

"A popular, misleading claim about late-term abortions has made its way to the province."

This comes from the very first line of a CTV article about late-term abortions, live birth abortions in Alberta.
https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/misleading-late-term-abortion-claim-circulated-alberta-government-won-t-comment-1.6986876

"That's just inflammatory propaganda that has no basis in fact," Joyce Arthur

These children are born alive after a failed abortion. Then they die. Not propaganda.

The only misleading item here is this CTV story. There's nothing misleading about these born alive abortions. They happen. Every year. In Canada. In every province. Not just Alberta.

I have done extensive research on these abortions and they are performed in all provinces. My research goes back to 2012. But the media refuses to believe it apparently.
http://run-with-life.blogspot.com/search?q=Born+alive&max-results=20&by-date=true

The stats come from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). CIHI took over the publishing of abortion stats from Statistics Canada years ago when they didn't want their name associated with underreported abortion numbers that they were forced to publish.

These abortions happen. Former MP Maurice Vellacott contacted the RCMP years ago about them and the RCMP refused to investigate.

It's time to stop these horrific abortions. Wake up Canada.

Killing people is an incredibly rewarding experience

It's bad enough that Canada has one of the most permissive euthanasia laws in the world. But now we have the death providers telling us how killing people is rewarding. "Incredibly rewarding" even.

A long form article on Dr. Ellen Wiebe in the National Post recently has admitted to killing over 400 people through MAID. Alex Schadenberg, Executive Director, Euthanasia Prevention Coalition informs us that Dr. Wiebe giggles when talking about killing people.

"Elmira Tanatarova reported for the Daily Mail on May 15 that many of the viewers of the Better off Dead? documentary were uneasy with Wiebe as she giggled when discussing the number of her euthanasia deaths."

I then came across this study where the authors interviewed eight MAID doctors who clearly love what they do. For them, killing people embodied an "existential experience".

Some other quotes from the study.

"The act of providing MAiD fostered embodied feelings of conviction, courage, compassion, and intimacy".

"Uplifting."

"It doesn't upset me at all."

"It’s like an adrenaline rush."

“I hadn’t expected this”

“It’s amazing. It blows my mind still.”

"It’s almost an adrenaline rush. And I was surprised at how good I felt. It was a little bit weird."

"Participants’ feeling weird as they processed assisting someone to die may point to a realization of the sacred, powerful control of the fates they are encountering. And I was surprised at how good I felt.

"it puts me in a good mood."

We have normalized euthanasia. And now we learn that doctors enjoy killing people. The majority of the participants in the study had no religious affiliation. This doesn't surprise me. Who needs God when you can be God?

Unredacted ATIP reveals abortion advocate's disinformation

It is interesting what gets hidden in an ATIP. Usually of course you have no idea what they are hiding because the hidden information is redacted. But recently I had occasion to ask for two different ATIPs about the Abortion Rights Coalition that were about a year apart. I received some duplicate information from them. The first one contained certain redacted information that the second one did not redact.

The unredacted information revealed that the redacted info from the first ATIP, was ARCC telling their usual unrelenting falsehoods about pregnancy care centres.

This is the text that was redacted from the first ATIP from a letter from ARCC to the Minister of Health on April 4, 2018:

"...Further, it would help to dispel harmful myths about abortion and mitigate the effects of misinformation spread by anti-choice groups. Over 290 anti-choice groups exist across Canada, including about 165 “crisis pregnancy centres” (CPCs)....Most agencies have websites or do other public outreach, and all provide misinformation about abortion and work to reinforce stigma. Further, CPCs often mislead or scare women seeking abortion while advocacy groups seek to recriminalize abortion, which would violate women's charter rights."

Redacted information about CPCs

Unredacted information on CPCs

Two questions.

1) Why was this information redacted from the first ATIP? The three Information Act clauses cited don't seem pertinent (19 (1), 20 (1) (c), 20 (1) (b.1)) to the redaction. And if they should have been redacted, why weren't they in the second ATIP?

2) Were the bureaucrats embarrassed (as they should be) when they saw this disinformation about pregnancy care centres, so they redacted "all [CPCs] provide misinformation about abortion and work to reinforce stigma"?

Here is another statement from meeting notes ARCC had with MP Don Davies from July 4, 2017 that was redacted from the first ATIP, but not the second ATIP:
"...The idea is to have a central, reliable place that women can go to, mitigating the effects of misinformation provided by "crisis pregnancy centres" and anti-choice groups."

More libelous nonsense.

(Here's a true statement no one can argue with, and is definitely not a lie: All abortion clinics kill babies.)

Fun Fact: My first ATIP took them 442 days to process and contained 11 pages. The second one took 396 days to process and contained 20 pages and produced similar information as the first. Don't let anyone ever tell you that ATIPs are ever processed in 30 days.

19 (1) Subject to subsection (2), the head of a government institution shall refuse to disclose any record requested under this Part that contains personal information.

  • 20 (1) (c) information the disclosure of which could reasonably be expected to result in material financial loss or gain to, or could reasonably be expected to prejudice the competitive position of, a third party; or

    • 20 (1) (b.1) information that is supplied in confidence to a government institution by a third party for the preparation, maintenance, testing or implementation by the government institution of emergency management plans within the meaning of section 2 of the Emergency Management Act and that concerns the vulnerability of the third party’s buildings or other structures, its networks or systems, including its computer or communications networks or systems, or the methods used to protect any of those buildings, structures, networks or systems

Constitutional rights for Christians

"A religiously affiliated health care facility's primary purpose is to provide health care. Religious beliefs should never interfere with a patient's health care choices; it is unconstitutional and compromises the patient's care when they are most vulnerable. We believe that a person should have access to all their end-of-life choices no matter where they access health care. Addressing this issue is long overdue, and it is incumbent on all of us to restore rights to patients, their loved ones and their clinicians." Helen Long, CEO, Dying With Dignity Canada

The pro-deathers at Dying with Dignity want their constitutional rights adhered to, yet refuse to acknowledge the constitutional rights (freedom of conscience and freedom of religion) of those who run Catholic hospitals. Talk about hypocrisy.

Participating in euthanizing another human being is against Catholic beliefs. For a Catholic doctor to euthanize a patient can put that doctor's eternal soul in grave danger. So no, Catholics do not want to kill people. The pro-deathers may not like these beliefs, but they are also guaranteed under our constitution.

If people ultimately decide to kill themselves, this is extremely tragic. But it is wrong to insist that others actively participate in that killing.

And now a word from our sponsor, Moses

Louisiana has become the first state to require that the Ten Commandments be displayed in every public school classroom

“If you want to respect the rule of law, you’ve got to start from the original lawgiver, which was Moses”

What a great idea. Instead of flying pride flags all over our Catholic schools, let's post the 10 commandments.

Dishing out grants to promote LGBTQ; protect boys from manosphere; to fight misogyny

Over $108 million in tax dollars was spent in 2022 on LGBTQ ideology.

In 2023 that number was $665,454,357. Definitely an improvement. But still $665,454,357 too much.

I'm not publishing 2024 grants as they haven't all been announced yet.

Fun facts from Canada's grants and contributions database:

Misogyny: 7 records found $3,808,016 to fight misogyny

Misandry: 0 records found $0 to fight misandry

Manosphere: Les 3 sex* This so-called online-magazine is a charity and they received $433,103 "to target young boys who are vulnerable to the influence of messaging from the manosphere."

You really can't make this stuff up.

Let's talk about real "substantial barriers", not pretend ones

In a memo to the Prime Minister from the PCO (from a previous ATIP that I did) was this statement:

(ie. as in, "substantial barriers" when it comes to getting an abortion)

To discover exactly what these "substantial barriers" were for transgender people I did another ATIP to the PCO and asked for copies of these studies. The PCO responded with this:

"A thorough search of the records under the control of PCO was carried out on your behalf; however, no records relevant to your request were found. However, we recommend that you make the same request with Health Canada as they are more likely to hold material pertaining to the specifics of your request." (emphasis added)

The PCO advises the Prime Minister--allegedly based on studies--but they don't actually have any studies to back up their claim. What?

Next stop, I did an ATIP to Health Canada for these studies alleging that transgender people face "substantial barriers" to abortion services.

I received back two studies, both based on the same data. The title of the first study was "Abortion experiences and preference of transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive people in the United States". The second was "Abortion attempts without clinical supervision among transgender, non-binary and gender expansive people in the United States."

(The United States? They couldn't find any studies in Canada?)

So what are these alleged "substantial barriers" to transgender people wanting to kill their pre-born children? From the first study:

"To improve accessibility and quality of abortion care for transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive patients, respondents most frequently recommended that abortion clinics adopt gender-neutral or gender-affirming intake forms, that providers use gender-neutral language, and that greater privacy be incorporated into the clinic." (emphasis added)
I'm trying to understand how not having a "gender-neutral or gender-affirming intake form" is a barrier to killing your pre-born child? I'm pretty sure that any woman in this country who wants to murder her pre-born child can do so. In fact, I'm 100% sure she can.

The second study concluded:
"The reported experiences highlight systemic discrimination and barriers to abortion care for TGE individuals and that clinicians, researchers, policymakers and advocates must urgently work to address."

But I couldn't find anything in the study to corroborate this statement; there were no examples of "systemic discrimination and barriers".

The pro-aborts are constantly whining about poor abortion access in Canada. This country has the most unrestrictive, free for all abortion access in the entire world. Why they feel the need to constantly come up with made-up stuff about poor abortion access and barriers to abortion, is beyond me.

But there is a real barrier here. It is for the innocent, defenseless, tiny child in the womb to actually be born before she is murdered. Now that is a substantial barrier.

1,190 late term abortions in Canada for 2022/2023 (excluding Quebec)

Note: All the numbers reported exclude late-term abortions performed in Quebec.

Live birth late-term abortion numbers are down to 131 in 2022/2023 from 149 in 2021/2022 (18 less). That is the good news. The bad news is that late-term stillbirth abortions are up from 911 in 2021/2022 to 1,059 in 2022/2023 (148 more). And the worse news is, that these horrific abortions still happen at all.

That's a net 130 more late term abortions in 2022/2023 than in 2021/222.

All of these dead children are >= 20 weeks gestation

Seven of these children born alive after an abortion were 29+ weeks gestationNine of them were 25-28 weeks gestation when they died. 98 of them were 21-24 weeks gestation when they died.

If someone had bothered to care for these children after their failed abortion, they could/would still be alive today.

Ontario abortions up by 9,361

Ontario abortion numbers from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care report 49,674 abortions in 2022. That's a whopping 9,361 more than CIHI just reported for the same year. And it's 7,646 more than OMHLTC reported in 2021. Whichever way you look at it, abortion numbers are going up. And CIHI is still underreporting abortions in Ontario, and most likely in all of Canada.

Canada's abortions up by 11%

Canada's 2022 abortion stats are out. And they are up by 11%. We've decapitated, disemboweled and dismembered more pre-born children in 2022 than in 2021.

That's 9,726 more dead little souls who will never draw their first breath. This is apparently what it means to be progressive. Thank God I am not.

Truth, lies, love and hate

It's Holy Week. The week before Jesus is crucified and dies to save man from his sins.

“Pilate asked him, ‘So you are a king?’ Jesus answered, ‘You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.’” — John 18:37

"What is truth?” retorted Pilate.

I've been thinking about truth. And I've been thinking about lies. I've been thinking about love. And I've been thinking about hate. Do we build up? Or do we tear down?

Joyce Arthur of the Abortion Rights Coalition, spends a lot of time writing letters and petitions to politicians, accusing other groups of hate.

In just one ATIP, ARCC's letters (and ARCC's followers' comments) to the Finance department use the word 'hate' 47 times when speaking about these other groups. Arthur alleges that these groups are 'hate groups', and therefore should have their Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) funding revoked. That's a lot of pages of very serious allegations against groups who support the sanctity of life.

What is truth? A very important question indeed.

Access to Information is broken in Canada

To: Pierre Poilievre

CC: Justin Trudeau, Jagmeet Singh, Mona Fortier

Dear Pierre Poilievre,

Along with the dozens and dozens of things you will need to fix once you become Prime Minister, I have one more item to add to your list. Please fix the Access to Information Act. It is a disaster. I know this, because I use it a lot.

Broken item number 1: You can wait months and months and months for a reply to your access to information. As an example I have two outstanding requests with the department of Finance: One has been outstanding since June 2023 (that's nine months). I was recently told to "expect that we will be able to reply within the next 2 to 4 months" more. Another had been outstanding since May 2023 (10 months) and I finally only received it this week. Whatever happened to that 30 day promise of response?

I could give you more examples, but you get the picture.

Broken item number 2: When they don't want to give you any information at all, they will actually say they do not confirm or deny the existence of records relevant to your request. I am not kidding:

"In accordance with 10(2) of the Act (The head of a government institution may but is not required to indicate under subsection (1) whether a record exists.), the Canada Revenue Agency does not confirm or deny the existence of records relevant to your request. If such records did exist, they would qualify for exemption under subsection 24(1) of the Act, which permits the head of a government institution to refuse to disclose information. For details on the provisions cited, go to laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/a-1(24 (1) The head of a government institution shall refuse to disclose any record requested under this Part that contains information the disclosure of which is restricted by or pursuant to any provision set out in Schedule II"

Broken item number 3: Pages come back in PDF format. But the bureaucrats have decided to stymie us even more; sneaky so-and so's. What they do is, take the original text and save it as a JPEG then put it back into PDF format and send it to you. This means that you cannot search the text. In the past, you would receive the PDF in a searchable format. This is a purely vindictive measure.

Broken item number 4: Sure, you can complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner. But this doesn't help because it takes them forever to respond; even longer than the original ATIP you're complaining about. I have one complaint at the OIC that I've been waiting 21 months for. As far as I know it hasn't even been assigned to an investigator yet. Departments know this, so can just take their sweet time in responding.

Justin Trudeau wants to control every aspect of a citizen's life. The only tool we have, to in any way, make this government accountable, is access to information. But just like everything else in this country, under this government, under this prime minister, it is broken.

Please, please, please Pierre Poilievre, fix it.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Patricia Maloney

RCMP must finally investigate born-alive abortions

Campaign Life Coalition is asking for the RCMP to open up an investigation into the tragedy of abortions that result in the live birth of a child. These children are born alive and left to die.

'Data from Statistics Canada and from the Canadian Institute for Health Information, a government-controlled reporting body, show that abortion attempts were made against the lives of these babies in regulated Canadian medical facilities. The data shows that these babies survived these assaults, that they were born alive, and then they died'

MP Maurice Vellacott also asked the RCMP look into this in 2013. At the time Commissioner Bob Paulson refused to investigate these deaths; it seems he allowed his pro-abortion ideaology to get in the way of impartiality:
"Your assertion that some, any or all of these occurrences constitute a crime requires an untenable contortion of the Criminal Code far removed from the legal consequences of the Morgentaler decision and the reality of a quarter century of deliberate Parliamentary inaction.'
Hopefully Commissioner Mike Duheme will do the right thing and finally investigate these horrific deaths.

Canadian government unable to justify its persecution of pro-life charities

My ATIP to the Privy Council Office (PCO):

“Regarding this letter from the PMO to the Finance Department https://www.pm.gc.ca/en/mandate-letters/2021/12/16/deputy-prime-minister-and-minister-finance-mandate-letter which says: "Introduce amendments to the Income Tax Act to make anti-abortion organizations that provide dishonest counselling to pregnant women about their rights and options ineligible for charitable status..." I am requesting all the supporting documentation to and from the The Privy Council Office and to and from any other government department including the PMO, that supports this need to make anti-abortion charities lose their charitable status. This would also include all documented materials from external persons or organizations and government departments that provided evidence of this "dishonest counselling" to the PCO. I would also like to see the criteria that will be used to dis-qualify the affected organizations for losing their charitable status. In other words, how will Revenue Canada decide that these organizations are engaging in "dishonest counselling"?” My request would be from Jan 1, 2020 to the present day”.

It took almost eight months to receive a miniscule 10 pages. From what little I did receive, and based on how long it took to receive it, I must conclude that they looked really hard to find something, anything at all, that would support their persecution of pro-life organizations. But they couldn't find a thing:

  • I received no supporting documentation that supports the 'need' to make charities lose their charitable status.
  • I received no supporting documentation from external persons or organizations of evidence of any 'dishonest counseling'.
  • I did not receive the 'criteria' that would be used to disqualify these organizations from losing their charitable status.
What I did receive, was an admission that there is no legal right to abortion in Canada:
"Although abortion was decriminalized in 1988 as a result of R. v. Morgentaler, there is no legal right to abortion in Canada.

The mandate to remove the charitable status from pro-life groups by this Liberal government is based purely on ideological reasons, not on any evidence, and not on any facts.

Dying with Dignity's death advocacy is heartwarming, motivating, exciting, wonderful, awesome

Some particularly ghoulish quotes from Dying with Dignity's emails, as they eagerly begged for donations prior to the year end. (Remember that in 2022 they had $8 million dollars in assets; spent a whopping $612,015 on fundraising, $793,408 on advertising, and $1,240,622 on salaries. No small potatoes for these death pushers but clearly they needed more.)

"I have been blown away by the incredible response we received last week in the lead up to the 2023 year-end deadline. It was one of the most heart-warming and motivating acknowledgements of the deep commitment to this work...1,154 donors across 10 provinces, 2 territories, and 3 states, we raised an unprecedented $197,000 toward our 2024 budgetary goals...thank you for being part of this wonderful moment...what this backing means for Dying With Dignity Canada this year... we will be investing deeply in our advocacy, public education, patient navigation and support programs to advance end-of-life choice and care across the country... we will be championing policy changes to remove barriers to access at both the federal level (including any remaining legal impediments) and provincial level (primarily addressing institutional religious obstruction)...The possibilities are quite exciting.

...

I have, what we fondly call at the office, the ‘awesome problem.’It happens when your work goes a little too well. And by solving one problem you create a whole new one — and, of course, make more work for yourself in the process. But I like to focus on the ‘awesome’ part of the ‘awesome problem’: it means that Kelsey, Kat and I are on the right track. People across Canada are hungry for more resources, support and community around end-of-life choice and care. As word spreads about the tools, demand for kits and guides that can help patients and their families at every stage of their end-of-life exploration — including medical assistance in dying (MAID) — has only continued to grow. I have a feeling that you might want to join me in tackling this ‘awesome problem.’ Will you chip in $50, or whatever you can, to help fund Dying With Dignity Canada’s ambitious Support program goals in 2024? Our budget deadline for this ends on December 31.

But then this week DYDC's email took a somber note when they learned that the government will again delay euthanasia for mental illness. Darn it.

DYDC is also pushing for advance requests to be killed. Heck, they will even help you write your own op-ed to newspapers.:

"You can start with something as simple as “This is my experience and why I support advance requests for medical assistance in dying.” Reach out to our Communications team at media@dyingwithdignity.ca if you would like support in writing your piece or connecting with your local paper."

And if you have dementia, there's still hope you can be put to death if you:

"satisfy all the requirements laid out in the federal law." Whew.

Last but not least DYDC has written a handy booklet: "What to expect at a MAID death." It gives you all the information you need to know about what it's like to be killed by lethal injection but were afraid to ask.

Here Dying with Dignity gets some old people to carry their death signs for them.
