RU-486 is a danger to women
Last week I wrote this on Joyce Arthur's take on RU-486.
Yesterday my letter was published in the Windsor Star:
Yesterday my letter was published in the Windsor Star:
Re: Beware of medical misinformation, by Joyce Arthur, Aug. 17.
The letter writer says, “There’s a reason it took Health Canada almost three years to approve mifepristone (the name RU-486 is incorrect) because the agency very carefully studied all the evidence, including possible concerns.”
There is no way she can know this, since that information is not publicly available.
This drug is very dangerous. The risks and health hazards regarding RU-486 have been meticulously documented in a book by Renate Klein called “RU486: Misconceptions, Myths and Morals.”
Dr. Klein is pro-choice, so the letter writer cannot allege that she is also just “anti-abortion and therefore ideological.” I suggest the letter writer read the book, she might learn something.
One excerpt from the book:
“ … Readers might not draw the same conclusion [that the drug is safe and effective], like hemorrhage-like bleeding, including the need for a blood transfusion, and/or re-evacuation, cardiovascular problems, a potentially lethal infection, or an ongoing pregnancy.”
Now that this drug is available in Canada, it is only a matter of time before we will have our own women suffer its serious side effects, possibly fatal.

Poor Planned Parenthood Ottawa - stop your bellyaching
Ah. Poor Planned Parenthood Ottawa. They think they are under attack. And they have managed to get the media to cry with them. Boo hoo:
When Ms. Payne called me about PPPO I asked her if she was writing about PPPO's selling of body parts. She said no, and a follow up email asking her to write about that pathetic news story went unanswered. In fact, none of the mainstream media in Canada has tackled this disgusting story at all.
Can you say biased?
Notice that PPPO's sad tale of woe is blaming an unknown "small group" for their problems:
There's no mention of the most likely real reason people might be targeting PP in the first place. As in just maybe it's about the exposé of Planned Parenthood Federation of America's (PPFA) "illegal selling fetal body parts" in the US.
If PPPO is being systematically targeted, great. Not because we oppose "women, youth or trans people " as Dobson-Hughes says, but because we oppose PPPO's pro-abortion ideology and because in Canada they make abortion referrals. What part of that simple idea is so hard for the pro-abortions to understand?
It's doubtful my blog resulted in PPPO's appeal. More likely PPPO is putting their own spin on the U.S. story to get more funding. Which brings me to what really gets my knickers in a twist. Why does PPPO get funding from Government organizations like the Canadian War Museum and the National Arts Centre, and the the Museum of Civilization, when crisis pregnancy centres do not get public funding, and the one time they did, fake person made sure it was revoked?
PPPO, get over yourself.
"Planned Parenthood is under attack in the United States, where anti-abortion activists are trying to get its funding cut in Republican-controlled states. In the U.S."Writer Elizabeth Payne first mentions Planned Parenthood in the US, but notice there is no mention why PP is under attack in the US. You know, for the illegal selling of fetal body parts? The huge news story that no Canadian newspapers are writing about?

“A small group who oppose health care for women and trans people have put unacceptable pressure on Planned Parenthood Ottawa’s funders … harassing them and threatening to expose them in the media.”
She said callers have asked some funders to “stop funding sex ed, contraception or counselling. It’s not about abortion. They oppose our health care.”So is Ms. Payne just taking PPPO's word for it that some group is targeting PPPO's funders? Which funders? Which group is doing the targeting? There's no specific details here at all. Doesn't even sound like a news story, more of a pity-party-whine-fest from PPPO.

Ask your candidate what they think about abortion
From the people at www.weneedalaw.ca:
Does your candidate support:
Late term abortion?
Sex selective abortion?
Pre-born victims of crime?
Welcome to lifeTOUR, a cross-country tour spearheaded by WeNeedaLaw.ca with more than 20 events across the country. Do you want to make a difference for pre-born children in Canada? Together we can ensure pre-born human rights are discussed during the 2015 federal election, and work to bring an end to unregulated abortion in Canada.
So what is the goal of this tour? lifeTOUR seeks to ensure that Canada’s leaders cannot ignore the injustice that is being committed against 100,000 of our pre-born neighbours every single year.
We aim to provide everything that you need to feel equipped for engaging your candidate in this discussion. In addition to learning where the different political parties stand, this site will inform you with questions to ask the candidates, petitions to sign, and action items such as lawn signs, window decals and t-shirts to carry the message forward. Come out to an event in your area, engage your candidate through emails, phone calls, social media, or questions at all-candidates’ meetings, or all of the above!
Together we can make a difference for our pre-born neighbours!

Joyce Arthur's logic isn't logical
This letter prompted Canada's number one pro-abortion Joyce Arthur to say this:
I wonder if Ms. Arthur has read Renate Klein's book "RU486: Misconceptions, Myths and Morals." Dr. Klein is extremely opposed to RU-486 and backs this up with extensive research into its harms. By Arthur's own logic, this book is worthy of paying attention to, since Dr. Klein is pro-choice.
Funny that Arthur doesn't mention the book in her letter.
"It is irresponsible to allow dangerous medical misinformation like this to be published. The letter writer’s sources are apparently anti-abortion and therefore ideological."Isn't that rich? Ms. Arthur dismisses the letter writer's sources because the writer is "anti-abortion and therefore ideological". Well since Arthur is "pro-abortion and therefore ideological", why would she think we wouldn't dismiss her as well?

The pro-abortions and their heart of lead
"It’s deeply disturbing to look across the border and see how cavalierly the health and safety of American women are being tossed aside. The debate currently raging in the U.S. around reproductive health care just serves to reaffirm a sad truth: that for many people, the health and safety of women simply do not matter. To the Republican politicians who have made defunding Planned Parenthood a priority, it seems women’s lives and bodies are mere tools for inciting easy political and moral outrage."The "health and safety of American women are being tossed aside"? What about the health and safety of the children they're carrying? What about the children being killed in their mother's womb for the sake of "reproductive choice"?
And oh. It's also "excellent news" that we can now use the "gold standard" of killing pre-born children with pills. How awesome is that?
"In light of all this, it’s easy to look at the state of reproductive health in Canada and feel a comparative sense of pride. Just recently, it was announced that RU-486, or Mifegymiso, a drug widely considered the “gold standard” of medical abortions, will be available as early as January 2016. This is excellent news; the drug could play an enormous part in making abortion accessible and safe, especially for women who live in communities where access to clinics and abortion services is either difficult to obtain or (as is the case in Prince Edward Island) completely nonexistent."Do these people ever listen to themselves? Do they have a heart at all or is it made of lead?
These people are so blinded by their "reproductive choice" pro-death agenda that they have no idea that other tiny defenseless human beings are being sacrificed at their altar of abortion. They're blinded, or more probably, they just don't care.
Justin Trudeau is a true politician
It didn't take Justin Trudeau long.
He's never responded to anything I've ever sent him. Not even a form letter response. Nothing. But this apparently isn't how he started out in politics.
In his 2014 memoir Common Ground, he's all ga-ga over himself and how awesome he was when he responded to a blogger with a "lengthy personal" reply:
Even my letter with 397 signatures on it to Mr. Trudeau wasn't worthy of a response from him.

"As the meeting date approached, I grew increasingly optimistic. At the end of April, I started to win over some critics, largely because they recognized the sheer doggedness with which I worked the riding. I also believe I had better insight than my competitors into the changing nature of politics and media. When a local blogger asked each candidate a series of questions about poverty, identity politics, immigration, and other issues, I responded with lengthy, personal replies that drew on my experiences in the riding. The other candidates chose not to respond to him at all, presumably assuming that few voters bother to read political blogs. But even in 2007, I knew that the Internet was becoming a critical tool for expanding a political party's outreach, especially to younger supporters.
To my delight the blogger, who had been telling his readers I was destined for failure, gave me a respectful nod on his website for taking the time to answer his questions. This was a small thing—I doubt that it swayed more than a handful of votes—but it reinforced my belief that today's activists and supporters expect and deserve direct engagement through the digital media."As a Canadian taxpayer, I have this funny habit of writing letters to elected politicians about issues that concern me. Rarely do I get a personal response from them--if I get a response at all. (It did happen once with Stockwell Day and I was shocked.)
Even my letter with 397 signatures on it to Mr. Trudeau wasn't worthy of a response from him.
Justin Trudeau has simply morphed into a true politician. He thinks he's beyond the civil niceties of respecting people who write him. Respect is for wimps I guess.
Am I expecting too much in asking for a real answer to a real question of the men and women who run our country, on our behalf? I don't think so.

These people are not honourable
John Robson can't vote Conservative and neither can I.
"...Harper wrote his 1991 master’s thesis on “public choice” theory that, as his abstract put it, “policymakers are motivated by political goals, in particular electoral goals, rather than the social optima assumed by traditional macroeconomic policy prescriptions.” As a Reform MP and National Citizens’ Coalition president, he understood this to be a warning. Now he treats it as an operating manual.
Power has corrupted him and his party. I wrote nearly two years ago that Harper is unfit for office because he lied to Parliament over the Wright-Duffy affair, insolently telling incompatible tales five days apart in October 2013, and lying about having contradicted himself.
Instead of recoiling from this cynical deceit, his party enthusiastically embraced it. If they think him worthy of public trust, they aren’t either.
It doesn’t matter where you look. The Tories talk tough in foreign affairs and praise the military. But they gut defence to fund cynical handouts. They rope in the rubes by feigning concern about traditional marriage, abortion and God. But they do nothing. Indeed, when Health Canada approved the abortion drug RU-486, this administration, which takes credit for every sparrow that takes wing in Canada, suddenly hid under the bed.
Justice Minister Peter MacKay told reporters to talk to Health Minister Rona Ambrose. Ambrose passed the buck to Health Canada. Jason Kenney said nothing. (MP David Anderson condemned the decision but declined to be interviewed.)
These people are not honourable. Indeed, they laugh at honour. They cherish the low blow, the devious tactic, the unprincipled bribe, in a relentless, sneering, partisan tone. People I know and like retweet Pierre Poilievre with vicious glee. I weep for them and my country..."I'm hoping for a Christian Heritage candidate in my riding. Because also like Robson, I also can't vote Liberal and I can't vote NDP.

Health Canada and RU-486: fatalities, endometritis, salpingitis and haemorrhages
From Health Canada's website:
"Analysis of the pivotal trials revealed that the average bleeding time was 10.8 days including 2 days of heavy bleeding. The majority of adverse events reported were transient and mild to moderate in severity. The medication causes vaginal bleeding and commonly induced pain and cramping, which required pain medication in some women. The other adverse events more commonly reported were diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever/chills, headache, dizziness and weakness. Treatment failure (which was defined as viable pregnancy, non-viable persistent pregnancy, persistent bleeding and abdominal pain that required a surgical termination of pregnancy) was reported in 2% to 4.8% of women.
A small number of patients who took Mifegymiso presented more serious complications, such as pelvic infections (endometritis, salpingitis [inflammation of the fallopian tubes]) and vaginal haemorrhages. Rare cases of fatalities were reported, therefore access to emergency care which can provide gynaecological surgical procedures, antibiotic intravenous therapy and blood transfusion in the rare cases where complications occur, is recommended in the labelling to ensure patient’s safety."
Tax dollars go to Planned Parenthood Ottawa
From my friend Anastasia:
So, Planned Parenthood Canada is a little different than the US. To the best of my knowledge, they do not operate abortion clinics, but they do offer abortion information and referrals and a whole lot more of what Planned Parenthood Ottawa proudly calls " inclusive pro-choice sexual health education" that is pretty awful.
Do your tax dollars pay them? You bet! And you might be surprised (or offended) by who else helps them. Page 15 of the 2012-2013 Annual Report for Planned Parenthood Ottawa indicates that they received $103,117 ----close to half their revenues--from the City of Ottawa alone. Another "Core and Project Funder" is the Ontario Trillium Foundation which apparently is funded by Ontario government lotteries.
Additional "event sponsors" included "The Canadian Museum of War", the "National Arts Centre", "the Museum of Civilization" etc. etc. Wait a minute. Aren't they government funded too? Well the NAC just received $110 million from the federal government for renos--presumably so our tax dollars can help them to "sponsor" PPO events. Other "event sponsors" included Al's Steakhouse, Les Suites, the Radisson and Bridgehead, to name a few. I might just send their management a note letting them know just what I think of PP and their kind and why I might not want to frequent any establishment that supports them.
You can check out the Annual Report here: http://www.ppottawa.ca/cms/ upload/dir/ppo/Documents/ Annual%20Reports/Annual% 20Report%202012for%20Web.pdf The pertinent donor pages are 14 and 15. Worth taking a look

David Daleiden and PPFA - going out towards the margins of human experience
"...They set their price per specimen—which is per aborted baby or baby part. The amount of money they received for those body parts far exceeds any real or imagined costs they have in supplying them.
Planned Parenthood doesn’t do shipping or packaging—all of that is handled by the middleman biotech companies that they sell to. And those groups sent all of their own people in to handle all the processing of the specimens.
So Planned Parent does nothing, yet they still are receiving $50, $75, or $100 per specimen. So they are clearly selling fetal tissue for valuable consideration and for a profit—and that is very clearly against the law.
...
I am Catholic, and I am a really big fan of Pope Francis. He has been a huge inspiration to me over the past couple of years, especially while doing this project.
Pope Francis’s emphasis on not being closed in on yourself but always moving forward and always being willing to go out towards the margins of human experience—in order to bring the gospel to those margins—was a huge inspiration to me during this project. I don’t think there’s any place more on the existential margins of society than an abortion clinic.
I think that when you have a place like an abortion clinic—which is a place where children are killed on an industrial scale—there is almost a sacramental value in bringing a presence to those places. We were there for good, out of love, and to welcome those children for the brief time that they will be in existence before they die. And to be in contact with and pray for all the abortion workers, the abortion doctors who are there.
As a Christian you are part of the body of Christ. So your presence, even in those darkest of places, can bring the presence of Jesus."

Mauril Belanger: will he win in Ottawa-Vanier again?
I wonder how many residents of Ottawa-Vanier know that our current MP Mauril Belanger is pro-choice? I wonder if they realize that his party's leader, Justin Trudeau, has banned pro-life people from being candidates in this riding? Something to think about.
Justin Trudeau: watch this before you decide
The Canadian election was called yesterday. So who to vote for? Well early days, but in case you're thinking of voting for Justin Trudeau, I suggest you watch this video first.
