But, deliver us from evil

I was praying the Our Father this morning. When I recited the last line, I stopped. It hit me.

I remembered the blog post I had done yesterday. About the late-term abortions that are done for Quebec women who go to the US. And that frightful fact of aborting a child up to 36 weeks gestation.

Our Father, Who art in heaven.

How do they do it? How do they kill a child who is fully formed, who can breathe on its own, and knows it's mother's voice? How can they do it?

Hallowed be Thy Name.

I write about abortion. All the time. About the number of abortions that are done in Canada. I write about this a lot.

Thy Kingdom come.

I write about the money that goes to pay for abortion. I write about the doctors who commit these abortions. I write about the millions we give to our own Canadians to promote, celebrate and push abortion. All in the name of "choice".

Thy Will be done,

I write about the millions and millions we export to third world countries like Africa, so they too can have abortions.

on earth as it is in Heaven.

I write about our Godless politicians who promote abortion; who close their eyes to it; who spend our taxes on it.

Give us this day our daily bread.

It's one thing to close your eyes to the evil of abortion; it is quite another thing to promote it; to celebrate it; to pay for it; to export it.

And forgive us our trespasses,

Do they know what they are doing? It's hard to comprehend that they do not.

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Do these people ever pray? Do they ever think about God? Do they ever think about the child who might have been?

But, deliver us from evil. Amen.

Planned Parenthood Toronto and "pregnancy tissue"

Besides advocating and supporting abortion, the business of killing children in the womb pays employees very very well. Unlike pro-life charities. And it's no wonder. Look how much government funding the abortion business gets from governments. Unlike pro-life charities.

(I thought I should also look at their website to see what else they do. I did. It is not for the feint of heart. But it's really good to know what our tax dollars are paying for besides advocating/supporting abortion. Especially since it is our tax dollars that are being used.)

Just two "facts" from their abortion "fact sheet":

Does abortion make me more likely to get breast cancer? No. There is no link between having an abortion or multiple abortions and developing breast cancer in the future.

Does abortion cause depression? No. The most common feeling people report after having an abortion is relief. Some people may feel sadness or grief, which is a healthy response to loss. Having an abortion is not associated with long-term emotional or mental health problems.

They really say this. From a place that advocates/supports abortion. Nope. No conflict of interest here.

Oh. And in their "fact" sheet? They can't bring themselves to use the word "child", or "fetus", or "human being". No it's called "pregnancy tissue". 11 times. I am not kidding.

NAF - lucrative work if you can get it

The National Abortion Federation Canada had a total income of $129,47 in 2020. NAF is considered a "charity".

What is fascinating (besides the fact that this bunch is considered a charity), is that from that $129,474, a full $108,829 was for salaries, for two people, a part-time and a full-time person. We also know that NAF received $4,654 for 2020, and $4,854 for 2021 from the Summer jobs program.

At the very least, the full time person received $80,000 (as reported by CRA). But my guess is that the part-time person received the grant from the CSJ program, and the remainder of the compensation went for that one full time person. That would mean that the full-time person could have received as much as $104,175.

I wonder if any Canadian working for a pro-life charity ever earn that much?

Justin Trudeau doles out $37 Million to Marie Stopes abortion provider

In 2021 alone, the Trudeau government gave grants to Marie Stopes abortion provider in excess of $37 Million.

He wants to take away charitable status for pro-life organizations in Canada, but he freely gives out millions of our tax dollars to groups who support/provide/promote abortion in other countries.

Justin Trudeau what is your evidence that pro-life groups "actively work to spread misinformation about abortion"?

(Letter sent to Justin Trudeau from Maureen Ward. See here.)

Dear Mr. Trudeau,

If you really are pro-choice and not pro-abortion then you wouldn’t be at war with charitable pro-life groups who quite often are the only places that provide real substantial help to pregnant women in crisis. In many cases these women and their children have been abandoned by their friends and their family. Crisis pregnancy centres help these women in crisis.

If you were truly pro-choice, you would support crisis pregnancy centres (CPCs).

As you are well aware, CPCs receive no funding from the government. Yet "pro-choice" groups receive millions and millions of taxpayers' money. As an example Mr. Trudeau, you provided groups like Planned Parenthood Toronto, with 3.4 million dollars in Government funds in 2020 alone. In fact, as of 2019 over a billion dollars has been provided to groups that promote abortion and abortion counseling across Canada. Please see here for those details.

https://run-with-life.blogspot.com/2019/07/the-scandal-of-raking-in-tax-dollars.html

https://run-with-life.blogspot.com/2019/08/the-scandal-of-raking-in-tax-dollars.html

https://run-with-life.blogspot.com/2019/09/the-scandal-of-raking-in-tax-dollars_13.html

Mr. Trudeau, to add insult to injury, you plan to take away the Charitable Status from these groups that offer love and support, life-affirming counseling, prayer, and much more.

And on top of everything else, you are now saying to Canadians that these groups are spreading misinformation and are hurtful to women. Mr. Trudeau, can you please provide me with your evidence for these very serious allegations of which you speak?

Perhaps you should visit one of these Centres, such as the Miriam Centre (https://miriamcentre.ca/) or Birthright (https://birthright.org/ottawa/), right here in Ottawa and see firsthand the good work they do. These centres are 100% funded by donors.

These Charities that you want to strip of Charitable Status provide love, hope, emotional support, a shoulder to cry on and prayer, not to mention diapers, formula, baby supplies, food and shelter, and much more. Isn’t that the true meaning of charity?

Please Mr. Trudeau for the sake of the women and children and all Canadians do not do this.

Sincerely,

Maureen Ward

Abortions in Manitoba show disturbing rise in medical abortions

Manitoba's abortion rates are going up. I received recent numbers thanks to Kyle Coffey from CCBR based on an FOI he did. The 2018/2019 numbers he received are even higher than what I reported on last year, particularly for medical abortions.

For 2019/2020, in Manitoba we see even more medical abortions (including numbers for previous years which have been adjusted upwards) - they are quickly catching up to the numbers of surgical abortion numbers.

This also means that CIHI's data which doesn't report on medical abortions, will also be underreported even more than they have been.

Very troubling indeed.

CCBR's latest numbers:

Justin Trudeau's crusade against pro-life groups continues

Justin Trudeau's decision to revoke the status of pro-life organizations, and in particular crisis pregnancy centres, is wrong headed and vindictive. Unlike organizations who promote abortion, pro-life groups receive no government funding whatsoever. For example, in 2020 Planned Parenthood Toronto received $3,461,811.00 in one year alone according to CRA. Many of these pro-choice groups also have charitable status; an added benefit. All together, these groups received more than a billion dollars in government funding as of 2019. (https://run-with-life.blogspot.com/2019/08/the-scandal-of-raking-in-tax-dollars.html).

All pro-life groups "get" is the ability to issue tax receipts. The difference in how these two groups are treated is staggering. Since most pro-life groups, if not all of them, are Christian charities, clearly this is discrimination based on religious and conscience rights.

Regarding crisis pregnancy centres (CPCs) which have been specifically targeted by this Liberal hit job, the Abortion Rights Coalition ARCC has also taken aim for many years at these centres. Why? Because CPCs are pro-life.

Executive director of ARCC Joyce Arthur, has repeatedly engaged in a witch hunt against CPCs, spreading myths and misinformation about CPCs for many years now. ARCC wrote two reports, both of which have been debunked for numerous falsehoods against CPCs. The first report received a $27,400 federal government grant to write the report.

The first report was also written by Joyce Arthur through her previous organization the Pro-Choice Action Network which is no longer active. Joyce Arthur received that $27,000 grant from the Status of Women. That grant was never publicly acknowledged by Arthur, even though acknowledgement was a condition of receiving the grant money. I discovered the grant through an ATIP https://run-with-life.blogspot.com/2013/01/joyce-arthurs-pro-can-grant.html

The two rebuttals against Arthur's attack reports:

The first rebuttal was written by the Executive director of CAPSS. The second rebuttal was written by me.

Trudeau's war against pro-life Canadians began with banning pro-life MPs from his party; continued with stopping the few breadcrumbs pro-life groups received from the Canada Summer Jobs program; and now he wants to prevent their donors from receiving tax receipts. Pro-life groups are 100% donor funded. Taking away their charitable status is wrong, mean and frankly, childish. In the interest of fairness and equity, this must stop.

When the pro-aborts get cranky

This is actually hilarious. From Joyce Arthur:

"VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Calling them hypocritical, an abortion-rights advocate is calling out the use of “pro-choice” language by demonstrators in B.C. who protested COVID-19 regulations Wednesday.

Signs read, “my body, my choice” and “pro-choice” — language used for decades by those advocating for abortion rights.

Joyce Arthur, the executive director of the B.C.-based Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada, is expressing her frustration with the anti-vaccine demonstrators who’ve co-opted the language, calling it harmful."

Joyce Arthur doesn't like that people use the word "pro-choice" in a way that she wouldn't use it. She thinks she owns the word. Good grief. It's "harmful" she says. What is "harmful" is abortion. Especially if you live in Canada and are still in the womb.

She calls us anti-choice, which is a lie, but she calls us that anyway. She's even got Justin Trudeau buying into the lie that we are anti-choice. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since Justin Trudeau is as pro-abortion as Joyce Arthur.

31,717 clients chose to attend a CPC for help

by Laura Lewis MD, CCFP

"Every year across Canada, individuals voluntarily seek help at local pregnancy centres. The support they receive may include a range of services – free of charge and available to all.

Last year alone, 31,717 clients chose to attend one of our affiliated pregnancy care centres for help. Many of the clients cared for would be considered vulnerable, marginalized, and lacking support. Many were women who were unsure about their pregnancy decision, uncertain about their choice, and some felt pressured to have an unwanted abortion as that was the only choice available.

Pregnancy care centres exist to provide a safe environment for a woman to make a pregnancy decision that is fully informed, evidence-based, consistent with her belief system, and free from external influence. The staff and volunteers respect a woman’s right to make her own decision and seek to provide her with medically accurate information on all three options: abortion, adoption, and parenting.

After serving as the executive director of Pregnancy Care Canada for the past five years, I have seen the value of work being done each day. And as a medical doctor, I care that the information provided is medically accurate. Our national network of 80 affiliated centres continues to seek new ways and improved ways to serve women, men, and families, reaching out for help. Unfortunately, the good work done at local pregnancy care centres is at times mischaracterized. Perhaps starting a new conversation about the societal importance of pregnancy care centres would be helpful.

May we not overlook the value of local charitable organizations that compassionately care for the vulnerable in our midst – with integrity and great love. One might refer to this as charity at work."

Dear Mona Fortier, Justin Trudeau, Erin O'Toole, Jagmeet Singh and Maxime Bernier,

I hope you will read this fact sheet about the good, and very much needed, work that pregnancy care centres do.

The women, men, and children who receive care from these centres would ultimately be the ones to suffer if their charitable status is removed.

For more background on the disinformation campaign against pregnancy care centres, and a detailed rebuttal of the falsehoods.

Sincerely,
Patricia Maloney

Justin Trudeau just insulted half of the Canadian population

From John Ivison in the National Post today

“I’m going to let him [Erin O'Toole] and his proxies in the anti-vax movement, in the gun lobby, in the anti-choice crowd to continue to attack me. I’m going to stay focused on Canadians” Justin Trudeau

I am totally disgusted with Justin Trudeau. He just insulted half of the Canadian population who call themselves pro-life. He uses Joyce Arthur's description of pro-life people, calling us "anti-choice". We are not anti-choice; we are anti-abortion and anti-euthanasia. We are for all choices, but the choices we support must be moral.

And Mr. Trudeau saying he is "focused on Canadians" is a lie, as long as he disrespects pro-life Canadians.

PPC's view on abortion, euthanasia and conscience rights

UPDATED Sept 18, 2021

I asked the People's Party of Canada's Ottawa-Vanier's candidate Jean-Jacques Desgranges, his views on social conservative issues. I received the following responses.

From a PPC Spokesperson:

There is no mention of some of these issues in our platform. Maxime has always clearly stated that the party would not take any official position on issues of conscience such as abortion, euthanasia etc, and would let PPC candidates and eventual MPs defend their own personal positions.

During the last election campaign for example, candidates Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson and Paul Mitchell in Alberta put forward a proposal for a private bill that they would table if elected that would make third-semester abortion illegal. They received support from some other candidates across the country. The Party has no problem with such initiatives, nor with candidates who would express a different viewpoint.

Maxime has himself stated publicly that he would personally support such a ban on third-semester abortion, as well as sex-selective abortions.

The Party would allow free votes on conscience issues as well as on other issues where it hasn’t taken any official position and as long as a specific position doesn’t contradict the Party’s fundamental principles.

From Ottawa-Vanier PPC candidate Jean-Jacques Desgranges:

In essence, my view on social conservative issues like abortion, euthanasia and doctor's conscience rights remain, well, conservative. But conservative in the true sense and not that of the Party that now calls itself the Conservative Party of Canada.

With respect to abortion my view (and I trust the view of almost all Canadians) is that abortion is wrong. Abortion, like euthanasia goes against our ingrained purely human values of the protection of life from conception to natural death. Though I cannot call myself pro-choice from a conscience perspective, I do respect a person's choice to undergo (or not undergo) the procedures they feel is necessary for them. This is a personal choice as is the decision to get a flu vaccine or to be injected with the so-called COVID19 vaccine.

However, as the PPC's four pillars state, the individual freedom allowed by a collectivity is coupled with personal responsibility, which is to say that a person's choices are bound by the responsibilities that may ensue. For example, a woman who chooses to obtain an abortion must understand that this may give rise to future health complications including infertility and mental health problems. I believe there are data to support this assertion. In my view, governments must limit its involvement in solving these problems, in particular in situations where the person was clearly apprised of the risks. Sadly, our institutions (of provincial jurisdiction - health and education) have been highjacked by ideologists that choose NOT to inform our youth of likely consequences of certain choices...

...given that life is sacred, I have the same view as it applies to euthanasia, euthanasia, defined as being an act of a doctor that causes the death of an incurable person to stop suffering an agony implies the participation in cessation of life. As such, it cannot inscribe itself as being correct in our society. That said, I can understand why a doctor may choose to assist patients towards death when those who are under long term suffering and agony choose to put an end to their life. Note that I impose the responsibility of opting out of life on the patient and not the health professionals. There must be very clear guidelines as to what is "long-term" suffering and agony. Abuses will (and probably have) otherwise become common place. Governments should strive to avoid this at all costs.

Given the above, you will have understood that I am in total support of doctors' conscience rights to refuse to perform abortions or euthanasia. It is difficult for me to fathom how a doctor whose conscience opposes abortion and/or euthanasia, can continue to properly administer medical care. Having been forced to carry out the procedure, he/she may thereafter suffer mental trauma to the extent that he can no longer effectively practice medicine feeling that he/she has abandoned his/her hippocratic oath. Or, he/she has become totally desensitized to the sacredness of life and thus stops exercising restraint and due diligence in carrying out either procedure.

Frankly, it is my view that under circumstances where a government allows either of the above life cessation procedures and that proper and strict guidelines are elaborated and implemented, the job should be left to those doctors of the utilitarian mindset. The choice of any doctor who, by reason of conscience, chooses not to abort or euthanize (including assist suicide) must be respected.

The above is said, of course, with due consideration that health matters (as they have been defined by the Supreme Court of Canada) are a provincial matter, and that the federal government can only act marginally on these issues. On this aspect, I refer you to the PPC's policy on Health Care which speaks specifically to the blind distribution of your tax dollars to provinces under the guise of "health transfers" but are not necessarily used for that.

I trust this allows you to understand where I stand on those issues...

CPCs should sue the Liberal party for libel

Directly from the Liberal policy platform:

"In 2021, women’s rights should not be up for debate. Yet the Conservatives want to roll back abortion access.

Meanwhile, anti-choice organizations are actively working to spread misinformation about abortion, putting the health and safety of young people and vulnerable women at risk.

Provide up to $10 million to Health Canada to develop an easily accessible portal that provides accurate, judgement-free, and evidence-based information on sexual and reproductive health and rights, which will include a section that counters misinformation about abortion.

No longer provide charity status to anti-abortion organizations (for example, Crisis Pregnancy Centres) that provide dishonest counseling to women about their rights and about the options available to them at all stages of the pregnancy." (emphasis added)

This sounds like something out of Joyce Arthur's playbook. Arthur began going after Crisis Pregnancy Centres (CPCs) as far back as 2009 with her "report" Exposing Crisis Pregnancy Centres in British Columbia. She absolutely hates these organizations which support women in crisis pregnancy situations. Her "report" was exposed for its gross misinformation in this detailed rebuttal by the organization Arthur was going after.

Then in 2017 I wrote another rebuttal to Arthur's further fabrications in this report, when Arthur went on another witch hunt of CPCs.

It seems now that her inaccurate and hateful venom has seeped its way into Justin Trudeau's policy platform.

More on Arthur's CPC witch hunt here

Let's hope the media does its job and exposes Justin Trudeau's adherence to the lies about crisis pregnancy centres that made their way into his election platform.

Erin O'Toole on conscience rights or lack thereof

I recently received a copy of a letter that a Canadian recently sent to Erin O'Toole. The letter pretty much speaks for itself.

Dear Mr. O'Toole,

I am a pro-life Canadian and have voted for conservative parties for decades. In the past few years, I have been very disappointed in the CPC for becoming more and more like the Liberals in their refusal to allow any protection for children in the womb, let alone a debate on the matter.

So when this election was called, I decided I could no longer vote for your party. However.....

.... I changed my mind recently, based on your comments to protect the conscience rights of doctors and other health care workers. Even though you are pro-choice, I respected that you at least recognized the hypocrisy of supporting a woman's choice when it comes to ending the life of her preborn child without also protecting the choice of the doctor whose conscience does not allow them to participate, in any way, in ending a child's life.

And then Justin Trudeau came out with this line that proved, once and for all, (although I already knew this, but now it came out loud and clear from his own mouth) that he is not actually pro-choice, but pro-abortion: "Pro-choice doesn't mean the freedom of doctors to choose. It means the freedom of women to choose. Leaders have to be unequivocal on that." (https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/erin-otoole-pro-choice-conscience-rights-1.6146200).

And I thought to myself, "this is gold for the Conservatives!" I could see the headlnes: "Justin Trudeau admits he is not pro-choice!"

Mr. Trudeau can't have it both ways. If he's pro-choice then he has to support choice for both. To support the choice to have an abortion, but not the choice to refuse to facilitate an abortion, is, logically, and by the common sense definition of "choice," not pro-choice.  He is pro-choice only in one case, anti-choice in the other. So, clearly, choice is not the issue for Mr. Trudeau; abortion is the issue. And when the two choices come into conflict, he chooses the choice of abortion. Hence, he is pro-abortion.

When Mr. Trudeau criticized your definition of "pro-choice," Mr. O'Toole, I was even more firm in my conviction to vote for you because you were showing true leadership by not being intimidated by Mr. Trudeau's bullying and fear mongering and holding firm in your support for freedom of conscience and the actual meaning of words, eschewing hypocrisy (as well as an Orwellian use of the English language).

But that all ended shortly thereafter. You reversed your stance on freedom of conscience, and adopted the same policy as the Liberals,  requiring doctors to give "effective referrals" for a procedure that ends a human life.

You could have shown courage and leadership by using Mr. Trudeau's words against him, exposing his hypocrisy. Instead you retreated and let the same old and tired pro-abortion rhetoric of the Liberals define the terms and frame the narrative, throwing conscientious doctors under the bus.

Please, Mr. Toole, it's not too late to reverse your position...again...and do the right and just thing: please support the freedom of doctors not to make "effective referrals" for procedures that end the life of another human being.

Coercing doctors to violate their consciences will not bode well for the medical profession, nor their patients.

It never has, and it never will.

Sincerely,

Erin O'Toole says no to freedom of conscience rights for doctors

Dear Erin O'Toole,

I am really sad that you flipped on your original stance regarding conscience rights for doctors. It seems you are becoming more like Justin Trudeau every day. Will you next ban pro-life people from obtaining grants from the summer jobs program? And what about pro-life candidates? Do they get the axe as well?

It seems that Conservative party has lost its way. Perhaps you think that those of us who care about doctor's conscience rights and the rights of the pre-born child, are not important, and that those of us who hold these beliefs will vote for the Conservatives anyway. Think again. We can and will vote for the Christian Heritage Party or the People's Party of Canada. And if there is no candidate in a riding, we can spoil our vote.

Canada already has enough parties from the left. I hope you change your mind about where you stand on issues that are crucial for a very large number of Canadians. We do not need Justin Trudeau lite.

Sincerely,

Patricia Maloney

Eternity is forever

Dear Ms. Fortier,

I received your booklet in my mailbox this week. It makes for interesting reading. I noted a couple of issues in the booklet, for which I have questions.

1) Ottawa-Vanier benefited from 840 jobs through the summer Canada Jobs program, at a cost of over $3 million dollars. Can you please tell me if any of these new positions were allotted to pro-life students or pro-life organizations?

2) The title on this page: A Feminist Government for a Feminist Recovery. Can you please explain how your Liberal government's feminist values--which by definition excludes men and pro-life women--can help a financial recovery of our economy?

3) You mention Budget 2021, but noticeably absent are any details as to how the billions spent during the pandemic, is going to be repaid by your Liberal government. Can you please provide me with those details?

4) And finally, the title of your booklet states: Building an inclusive, green, and feminist post-pandemic economic recovery.

From this title, and from what I detailed above, calling the booklet an economic recovery plan is misleading since the booklet contains no information on an economic recovery. It is also not inclusive since it is exclusive of men, of pro-life women, of pro-life businesses, and of pro-life students.

Can you please provide me with answers to these very important questions at your earliest convenience?

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Patricia Maloney

This is sick

This is the kind of disgusting drivel we've come to expect from Joyce Arthur's warped Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada. Doesn't get much sicker than this.

Nunavut sends women elsewhere for second trimester abortions

I asked for clarification as to why CIHI reports actual abortion numbers in Nunavut, while Nunavut Health does not. Here is the response I received:

"CIHI receives only Qikiqtani General Hospital data (Inpatient and Day Surgery visit information). Some of the reported numbers may be patients with a Nunavut health care card who had the procedure done in a Southern clinic or hospital.

CIHI (Canadian Institute for Health Information) receives the data for this report from the data collected, entered and reported to CIHI. Inpatient and Day Surgery visit records are reviewed by a coder. Information is collected, coded using ICD-10-CA and CCI (diagnosis, intervention and other mandatory data fields collected) and entered into the Med2020 abstracting system. When all records are processed for the reporting month, a file is created and sent in a secure manner to CIHI.

...

Some clients are sent to Ottawa or Toronto because they are beyond the time limit for safety here (14 weeks maximum in Iqaluit). The abortion procedures are only performed in Iqaluit."

When I asked what was meant by "Southern clinic or hospital", I received this answer.

"Some of the reported numbers may be patients with a Nunavut health care card who had the procedure done in a Southern clinic or hospital."

So Nunavut may perform abortions later than 14 weeks gestation. Very sad.

Fraser Health Authority - disgusting behaviour because Delta Hospice won't kill patients

(The following is from Delta Hospice Society)

35 YEAR LAND LEASE CANCELLED, BUILDINGS CONFISCATED, and SOCIETY EVICTED

On March 29, 2021 the Delta Hospice Society (DHS) was evicted from their 2 buildings they fund raised $8.5 million to construct. Both the Hospice and the Supportive Care Centre were taken by the Fraser Health Authority because DHS refused to kill their patients. DHS was given no compensation for the assets presently valued at $9 million.  The 35 year land lease, upon which these buildings were built, was cancelled by the Fraser Health Authority. These buildings then became “fixtures” to the land and confiscated. The Delta Hospice Society refused to participate in euthanizing its patients, known as Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), because it is committed to Palliative Care which does not hasten death. We believe in the compassionate care and support for persons in the last stages of living, so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. This position is consistent with international hospice palliative care associations and the World Health Organization.

UPDATE ...  After the 10 bed Irene Thomas Hospice was seized by the Fraser Health Authority, it was reopened on April 15, 2021, under government control now offering euthanasia. The Society’s second building, known as the Centre for Supportive Care, sits vacant. The City of Delta’s Mayor, George Harvie, is attempting to acquire the Centre from Fraser Health, block the Delta Hospice Society from their own building, and give the space to a newly formed pro-euthanasia group.

Canadian foreign aid to Africa is tied to abortion

Dear Justin Trudeau,

Please watch this video which details what you are doing in Africa. The interview is with an African woman Obianuju Ekeocha and David Mulroney, former Canadian Ambassador to China.

After watching this video and being a concerned Canadian citizen, I have some questions for you Mr. Trudeau that I would like you to answer.

1) Africa has their own values. Yet it seems you are imposing your own values on the African people. So why are you funding abortion in Africa?

2) Why are you unilaterally making decisions about abortion in Africa when Africans are not interested in abortion?

3) Why are you tying foreign aid dollars to Africa to the provision of abortion and abortion related education?

4) Why aren't you instead providing actual aid for African vital services, like clean water, good nutrition, safe maternity care, as well as building hospitals and schools?

5) Why do you describe our foreign aid policy as a "feminist" foreign aid policy? What does foreign aid to poor countries have to do with abortion?

6) Why is our foreign aid policy written by Westerners, and not by Africans?

7) Why are you funnelling this foreign aid to pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood, Marie Stopes and the Clinton foundation, instead of to Canadian pro-life groups?

8) Why are some of the people who provide this aid living in luxury Hilton hotels in Africa while many Africans are hungry and go without proper medical care or education?

9) The African people do not want your feminist foreign aid. So why do you tie the promise of millions of dollars to Africans, by forcing your abortion ideology on them?

10) The only people excited about your "feminist" foreign aid policy are radical pro-abortion Canadians and not Africans. Is this who you are appeasing? Do you even care about what Africans need and want?

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Patricia Maloney

Free Speech is a Right and an Obligation

Below is an excerpt of the presentation Wednesday, May 5, 2021, via zoom by Fr. Tony Van Hee.

People will recall that Fr. Tony uses quotes from Dr. Jordan Peterson on his sandwich board when he stands peacefully near the abortion facility in Ottawa.

Fr. Tony draws upon Dr. Peterson's discussion on the topic of free speech to demonstrate that in a democratic society such as Canada, free speech truly is the cornerstone of Western civilization.

The Importance of Free Speech

My knowledge of free speech, and its importance, comes from Dr. Jordan Peterson, professor and clinical psychologist at Toronto University. I will quote him especially in regard to the importance of free speech grounded in the ineradicable value of the human being.

Jordan Peterson has extraordinary knowledge, a passion to help people, and the vocabulary to do just that. He is at his best in this talk that he gave March 11, 2017, at the Ottawa Public Library,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqFo32lwY_g

Before discussing that talk, I want you to hear what he has to say on the obligation of free speech, which he mentioned in a talk at Linfield College in Oregon, five weeks after the Ottawa Public Library talk.

“We've talked a lot about, the right to free speech. And something you might also want to consider, is the obligation of free speech, because I actually think it's deeper than a right. I think you're obligated to speak freely, because otherwise people don't have the benefit of whatever wisdom you possess, and at least you possess the wisdom of your own experience, at the very least you have that, and that's as valid a form of truth, as any other form of truth, and it's often a truth that can be usefully communicated to other people, and so, it's to the community's benefit that you say what your experience has taught you, because there isn't anyone who has your experience”.

Besides the obligation to share the wisdom of your experience, we have a further obligation to oppose unjust laws.

Martin Luther King Jr said in his Letter from a Birmingham Jail, April 16, 1963:

“One has not only a legal but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws. I would agree with St. Augustine that 'an unjust law is no law at all.' “How does one determine, whether a law is just or unjust? A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. To put it in the terms of St. Thomas Aquinas: An unjust law, is a human law, that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law. Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust. All segregation statutes are unjust because segregation distorts the soul and damages the personality.”

How much more unjust is the case for abortion, which not only distorts and damages, but painfully dismembers and kills. Therefore any law which allows, or promotes the killing of an innocent person is an unjust law, and any law that protects those who kill an innocent person, such as the bubble zone law, is doubly unjust, and we have a moral obligation to disobey and oppose such laws and work to get them repealed.

Now some excerpts from Professor Peterson's Ottawa talk. Because they are excerpts the connections between them will not always be immediately evident, but the importance of free speech, and the importance of the individual are the common thread in all of them, the primacy of free speech is grounded in the sovereignty of the individual, or put in another way, free speech is the distinctive sign of the sovereignty of the individual.

“You support free speech, because it’s the mechanism, that maintains the sanity of the individual and society, and you live in relationship with the spoken truth, to the best of your ability, because the alternative is Hell, and if Hell is what you want, then you can remain arrogant, and resentful, and deceitful. But if you want to work to better the world, to bring it up to what it might be, then you speak forthrightly, you clarify yourself, and you act properly in the world, and then you see what happens” (1:09:37-1:10:21)."

“You never know what will happen if you say something that's true. It's a miracle! Miracles will happen.”

Because Peterson maintains, that “respect for the Logos, and respect for free speech are the same thing”, I want to say something about the word itself. Logos is a Greek word which can mean: word or speech or reason or wisdom. In the prologue of St John's Gospel, (Jn 1:1-18) the Logos is presented as the Son of God who became man and speaks the Logos (the Word of God) into the world.

“So here’s the idea that lurks at the beginning of Genesis. There’s three elements that are involved in the creation of habitable order from chaos, at the beginning of time. One of them is, whatever is represented by God the Father, and one of them is whatever is represented by the chaos that exists at the same time, and the other is whatever is represented by the idea of God’s Word."

"That’s the Logos from a Christian perspective....The story at the beginning of Genesis means that structure, that’s the Father, structure extracts habitable order from chaos, through speech, and that’s what we do.... The idea is, that there's something about the human being, and whatever it is that makes us conscious, that interacts with the chaotic potential, that constitutes reality, and extracts out from that, the order within which we live."

“And there's something divine about that, and that's the value of the human being, that's the ineradicable value of the human being, and the idea that each individual, even the criminal, even murderers, the worst and most reprehensible people, have to be treated with the respect due to a divinity, because we partake in the capacity, to extract habitable order, from chaos with our consciousness, with our speech, and with our capacity to communicate”.

“The story that is being sold to people who are sold a Nationalist story is: [T]he State is the ultimate identity! Well, actually that's technically wrong, because the problem with the State is, that the State is what is uniform across people, and the thing is, that we need what’s actually diverse across people, in order to rejuvenate the State, and to keep it awake, and so if you reduce individuals, to what’s homogeneous about them, across all people, you eradicate the very variability, that allows people to adapt to new things, and because we are constantly being presented with new things, we need to keep that individual variability paramount, because it’s upon that variability, that the very State depends, and that’s actually what the West discovered."

"That’s why we have always subordinated the State, to the divinity of the individual, and that’s expressed, as I already said, in the primacy of free speech in our civilization. It’s the cornerstone, the primacy of free speech, and it’s because the individual has something to offer the State.... The State is a corpse. The State is dead, but it’s a gift that the dead have given to [us], and [we] have to provide it with vision, and with speech, because otherwise it can only blunder around like a zombie”

”We could solve any problem, we can solve any problem, if we used all the resources that are available to us, if we lived properly, we have no idea what we could turn what we're in, into.

"And this is the final thing I'll say. I spent a long time studying the Sermon on the Mount. It's a key document. It's Christ's commentary on the 10 Commandments. In a sense, the question being, if you codify the rules, by which a society might function, is there something within the structure of the rules, that rises above them, that acts as the fundamental principle, from which they're all derived? It's the ultimate question of human ethics, what is the highest principle? And the answer that's put forward in the Sermon on the Mount is quite straightforward. Aim at the highest possible good that you can conceive of. That serves as your God, for all practical purposes...Having aligned yourself with that good, speak the truth, and see what happens."

“That's the act of faith. The act of faith is, whatever the truth reveals, is the best of all possible worlds, regardless of how it appears to you now. It's a guess. It's something you stake a bet on. Well, what do you think? The best of all possible worlds will be brought into being by deceit? It seems unlikely. You know that doesn't work in your own life, (1:11.38) you tangle yourself up in your own lies, one lie breeds 10, and 10 breeds 100, and maybe you put the consequences on down the road, and you don't fall into the pit for 5 or 6 years, maybe you've even forgotten why you fell in, when you finally do fall in, but everyone knows, everyone knows that you don't get away with anything."

"And so the issue is, well, what would happen if you just said what you thought, stupid as it is, inaccurate as it is, and listen to people criticize you in response, to shape you and make you more articulate? What would your life be like? And the answer to that is, and I know this to be true. I've worked with many, many people on precisely this problem. Your life gets better, and better, and better, and richer, and deeper, but that comes with a heavier and heavier burden of responsibility. Well, that's okay. You use the observation of your own capability, to bear responsibility, to buttress yourself against the terrors of being finite. You say, “Weak and miserable as I am, I can still stand up to the terrible tragedy of life, and prevail. And that's good enough."

Statistics Canada VS CIHI late-term abortions

UPDATE: May 14, 2021

Melissa asked

"How come the CIHI doesn't report statistics for Quebec? If Ontario has 74 abortions resulting in live births, Quebec is bound to have a few as well."
CIHI's response:

"The official source of abortion data from Québec is provided to CIHI in the form of an annual file containing aggregated data. This file does not contain the information you are requesting. Available abortion-related data for Québec is published in our annual induced abortion tables here: https://www.cihi.ca/sites/default/files/document/induced-abortions-reported-in-canada-in-2019-en.xlsx" (we already know this)

I also asked them another questions:

"On your quick stats for the country, gestational age abortions are also excluded for Quebec. Why? And why do you not report gestational ages of abortions done at clinics?"

Here is CIHI's response:

"Clinic data is provided to CIHI on a voluntary basis, and does not include volume breakdowns by gestational age."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More gruesome numbers of late-term deaths (>=20 weeks gestation) of pre-born children.

CIHI's numbers for 2019-2020 stillbirth abortions, and livebirth abortions in Canada.

CIHI reports 999 deaths by abortion of children in the womb that resulted in stillbirths in 2019-2020.

CIHI reports 112 deaths by abortion of children in the womb that resulted in livebirths in 2019-2020.

Statistics Canada reports "Termination of pregnancy affecting fetus and newborn [Code P9.64]" 69 deaths. Notice that Statistics Canada uses the term "newborn". That is because of course, once a baby is born alive, it is considered a person.

Once again CIHI's numbers are different than Statistics Canada's.

Pro-abortion advocate attacks pro-life MPP

UPDATE: Fr. Hugh Barbour gives a very insightful analysis in this Podcast from Catholic Answers as it relates to pro-creation and evil. 30 minutes. Rather pertinent to the "reproductive rights" idealogy.

Joyce Arthur's latest attacks towards pro-life people. And Christians. This time she attacks Sam Oosterhoff.

JA: Sam Oosterhoff should be expelled from Ontario Premier Doug Ford's caucus because he opposes key human rights.

Joyce Arthur opposes key human rights for pre-porn children.

JA: You may have heard about his most recent media scandal -- speaking at an anti-choice event even though one of the organizing groups had compared abortion to the Holocaust.

Canada has 100,000 abortions a year. Some believe this to be a holocaust. Joyce Arthur may want to dictate the beliefs of Canadians. But she can't. No matter how much she wants to.

JA: This is not an isolated occurrence. Oosterhoff has a long record as a far-right fundamentalist Christian who opposes Charter rights for women and gender minorities.

Joyce Arthur engages in hate speech against Christians and in personal attacks against Sam Oosterhoff.

JA: How did he get elected in the first place, and why is he still there?

His constituents voted him in. It's called democracy.

JA: In December, he shared a Toronto stage with Premier Doug Ford and religious extremist Charles McVety, who is virulently anti-gay and has attacked same-sex marriage as part of the "militant homosexual agenda."

More hate speech from Joyce Arthur against Christians.

JA: He was in an October photo-op with all-male members of Ontario Craft Brewers (OCB), which caused public controversy because it raised the question: why was the OCB consorting with an extremist anti-choice homophobe?

More hate speech and more personal attacks from Joyce Arthur.

JA: So there's been no apology, and no dismissal of Oosterhoff from his privileged parliamentary position or from caucus. This confirms that Ford and his Progressive Conservative party are happy to coddle MPPs who oppose the human rights of women and gender minorities.

One does not apologize for their stand against abortion. Abortion is evil.

JA: open misogyny is perfectly acceptable. Oosterhoff can be out, loud, and proud when it comes to declaring that women must be subservient to fetuses.

Personal attacks and hate speech. And other nonsense. Courtesy Joyce Arthur.

CIHI missing 18,278 Ontario abortions in 2019 statistics

CIHI has reported abortion numbers for 2019

Back in December I posted a comparison chart of CIHI's numbers compared to FOI's I did for each province.

CIHI reported 27,911 for Ontario for 2019. The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) reported 46,189. that means that CIHI is not reporting a whopping 18,278 Ontario abortions.

CIHI believes they are accounting for the difference. Unfortunately they are not. From CIHI's notes:

"The methodology to estimate induced abortion volumes for Ontario is consistent with the enhanced methodology that was introduced in the 2015 report (emphasis added)Total volumes were derived by using the total abortion volumes reported to the National Physician Database (NPDB) at CIHI and adding both hospital-based abortions for non-Ontario residents and hospital-based medical-method-only abortions for Ontario residents (as reported to the Discharge Abstract Database and the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System). For Ontario, volumes reported in the column Number of induced abortions reported by clinics include services from non-hospital settings. Volumes for non-hospital settings (clinics/surgical facilities/physician offices) were estimated using the total abortion volumes as described above and subtracting hospital-based abortions. This methodology results in induced abortions occurring in physician offices and in clinics being included in non-hospital settings volumes. This estimation approach for non-hospital volumes was required because information on the location where the service is rendered (e.g., clinic, hospital, physician’s office) may not be included in the NPDB data."

CIHI does not report medical abortions. They only report these abortions: S752 - induced - by any surgical technique up to and including 14 weeks gestation, S785 - induced - by any surgical technique after 14 weeks of gestation.

How many of these 18,278 missing abortions are medical abortions? We do not know.

MOHLTC does report medical abortions. As well as all these types:

A920A - MEDICAL MANAGEMENT OF EARLY PREGNANCY - INITIAL VISIT (medical abortions)
P001A MEDICAL MGMT FETAL DEMISE BETWEEN 14-20 WKS GESTATION
P054A FETAL MANAGEMENT-SGL/MULT-INTRACARDIAC KCL INJECTION
S752A FEM.GENITAL SYST.-INDUCED-CURRETINTRA-AMNIOTIC INJ.
S770A CORPUS UTERI - HYSTEROTOMY.
S783A CORPUS UTERI - HYSTEROTOMY WITH TUBAL INTERRUPTION.
S785A FEM.GENITAL SYST.-INDUCED-INTRA-AMNIOTIC INJ. (INCOMP.)

Stop telling us what we can believe

Dear Chris Selley,

I really must take issue with your recent column in the National Post on abortion.

You say:

“It probably doesn’t need explaining how fantastically stupid abortion-to-Holocaust analogies are — the two things are overwhelmingly more dissimilar than they are similar — but I suppose it couldn’t hurt. The Canadian Institute for Health Information reports 83,576 women underwent an abortion procedure in 2019. They made that choice for a wide variety of reasons, some of which would attract more sympathy in the court of public opinion than others.”

To begin with CIHI grossly under reports the numbers of abortions done in Canada every year. If you had delved a bit deeper into the subject you would have learned this yourself. See here and here. (This is due to a complicated bunch of reasons but I would be happy to send you all of my research on abortion numbers in Canada if you care to learn the facts.)

This means that since 1988 there have been at least 100,000 abortions every year, which would mean at least 3,300,000 abortions since that year, never mind the ones done before that. Some find this comparison to a holocaust offensive. In fact you call it "fantastically stupid".

So what is the definition of holocaust? According to Merriam-Webster:

a: usually the Holocaust: the mass slaughter of European civilians and especially Jews by the Nazis during World War II
b: a mass slaughter of people, especially GENOCIDE (emphasis added)
So you see there are many Canadians (Group A) who believe that abortion is a morally horrific act. They believe that taking the lives of defenseless human beings on such a massive scale scale, each and every year, is in fact a holocaust. On the other hand, there are many Canadians (Group B) who believe that abortion is an acceptable solution to an unwanted pregnancy. You seem to belong to Group B. While I don't agree with you, I wouldn't call your viewpoint "fantastically stupid".

Next you say:

“The vast majority of people who might retweet or nod in agreement with that NCLN tweet clearly do not, in fact, believe it. If you actually think a Holocaust is ongoing in your country’s clinics and hospitals, you don’t cheerfully promote online events featuring “pro-life badasses.” You don’t say things like “there’s a lot of joy in the air,” as a spokesperson for the anti-abortion Campaign Life Coalition effused of 2018’s March for Life in Ottawa. You’re beside yourself. You’re pulling your hair out, chaining yourself to things, frantically trying to keep people out of abortion clinics. Maybe you’re even blowing stuff up.”

"Joy" and "cheerfully"? Since you are not pro-life and have no idea what it is like to be pro-life and be discriminated against and marginalized by every Tom, Dick and Chris, we must try to, you know, keep each other's spirits up in such a difficult and thankless task it is, to advocate against abortion. As for "chaining ourselves to things trying to keep people out of abortion clinics"-- have you heard of abortion bubble zone laws where pro-life people have no freedom of expression rights, and at the March's for Life where handfuls of screaming antifa people are allowed to block thousands of us on our approved routes, and the police do nothing to stop them? See:

https://run-with-life.blogspot.com/2020/01/pro-life-right-wing-extremists.html

https://run-with-life.blogspot.com/2017/05/how-peaceful-prolife-people-are-dealt.html

https://run-with-life.blogspot.com/2017/05/march-for-life-2017-we-will-never-give.html

https://run-with-life.blogspot.com/2018/05/march-for-life-2018.html

And as for "blowing stuff up"? Did you really haul out that tired old mantra?

Finally, and most importantly, why is it that people from (Group B) always want to dictate what people from (Group A), are allowed to believe, allowed to say, and how they are allowed to act?

My views are not pathetic, outdated, or offensive

TO: Lucille Collard, MPP in Ottawa—Vanier

Dear Ms. Collard,

I am your constituent. I am a woman. I am against abortion. I support that Sam Oosterhoff is also against abortion. I see that you don't support him, when you re-tweeted this statement from Emilie Leneveu:

Emilie Leneveu, Ontario Liberal Party candidate for Bay of Quinte, issued the following statement:

“Last week, on International Women’s Day, Doug Ford spoke about his ‘commitment’ to gender equality. One week later, when one of his MPP’s is proudly leading an attack on women’s reproductive rights, he is silent. In a time and age like this – the Premier of Ontario is legitimizing attacks on the reproductive rights of women by allowing one of his own male-caucus members to continue these anti-women attacks.

Equality requires more than words it requires action. It needs leaders to take action and speak up. Instead, Ford’s silence just empowers and enables this outdated and offensive behaviour.

I hope that young women in this province use this as motivation to get involved and speak up – whether that’s through joining a political party, an advocacy group, or talking to your own social groups, it’s critical that we use our voice and tell Doug Ford and Sam Oosterhoff that their pathetic views are unacceptable for Ontario in 2021.”

Mr. Oosterhoff's comments are not "anti-woman attacks". They are not "pathetic". His behaviour is not "outdated and offensive". They are brave comments/behaviours. More men should have the courage to speak out like he does in support of pre-born Canadians. Not only does Mr. Oosterhoff stand up for the rights of these children, he also won't let the feminist bullies tell him what comments/beliefs he is allowed to have. And even though he is not "dictating any of your choices", I thank God he is against choices that are grossly immoral and intentionally kill a child in the womb.

And please let's dispense with the "reproductive rights" nonsense. There is no such thing. What we do have is the "wholesale slaughter of children" masquerading as "reproductive rights".

I wish we had a whole lot more people like Mr. Oosterhoff at Queen's Park. How wonderful that would be.

Sincerely,

Patricia Maloney
