Are moral issues complex?

Human Personhood Begins at Conception

Non-Christians and even Christians can take opposite positions on abortion even when they think rationally, honestly, and with good will. The continuing controversy over abortion shows that it is a truly controversial issue. It is not simple and clear cut, but complex. Just as the choices for action are often difficult for a woman contemplating abortion, the choices for thought are often difficult for open-minded philosophers.

Then Kreeft goes on to say:

Everything I have said so far is a lie.

And then this:

Moral issues are always terribly complex, said Chesterton – for someone without principles

Stop normalizing suicide as a solution to suffering

"ARPA Canada urges the government to stop and reverse the expansion of MAiD. Canada already has one of the most permissive euthanasia regimes in the world. Canada has utterly failed to protect vulnerable Canadians. Instead, we have taken a fast track to devaluing the lives of the sick and disabled and to normalizing suicide as a solution to suffering."

Dear Mona Fortier,

Please read this excellent press release from ARPA, regarding expanding euthanasia to minors.

On the one hand we say we are against suicide. On the other hand, we support suicide with MAID. You can't have it both ways.

As my representative in Parliament I am asking you to not support any expansions to this deadly policy.

I am also asking that you support some real concrete, tangible, and measurable improvements to both palliative care and mental health supports for Canadians. I know people in both these categories who would greatly benefit from these improvements, especially since they are unable to get these kinds of help now. But they can get MAID.

It is both a tragedy and unethical that we allow and promote MAID instead of providing actual care to people who need it.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Patricia Maloney

We need to defund the biased CBC

Pierre Poilievre wants to defund the CBC. You can sign his petition here. I did.

I had my own experience with the CBC back in 2015/2016. They aired an interview with abortion doctor Wendy Norman (and other pro-abort doctors and pro-abort people), on the abortion pill. They interviewed only one pro-life doctor. Quelle surprise. Their bias is blatant.
"Of the four people Anna Maria interviewed, three of them were "pro-choice" (Dr. Rebecca Gomperts, Dr. Joel Lexchin and Dr. Sheila Dunn) and only one was a pro-life doctor (Dr. Donna Harrison). Dr. Gomperts actually performs abortions on women who live in countries where abortions are illegal. Dr. Joel Lexchin wonders if "[the holdup to approve the drug] is a political decision, in other words, if this is pressure coming from the anti-abortions members of the conservative government to not approve this product". And Dr. Sheila Dunn easily sails through her questions, and is not interrupted by Anna-Maria--unlike the pro-life doctor, who is also asked, if her reasons for not supporting mifepristone, are based on ideology. Whereas none of the three "pro-choice" doctors are asked the same question."
The pro aborts LOVE the abortion pill. Never mind that it kills women.

Ontario 2021-2022 abortion statistics - medical and fetal reduction abortions on the rise

Below are the latest abortion numbers from Ontario based on doctor's billing codes for 2021-2022 fiscal year. I've also included the numbers for the previous two years for comparison purposes. Source is the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

2021-2022 total abortions are 42,021 (Hospitals 9,486 + doctor's offices and clinics 32,535. Notice that there are another 7 abortions for which we do not know their categories, some of which are in the fetal reduction category.)

2020-2021 total abortions 41,750 (Hospitals 10,016 + Doctor's offices and clinics 31,734)

2019-2020 total abortions 46,189 (Hospitals 10,887 + Doctor's offices and clinics 35,302)

Notice that the horrific fetal reduction abortions are on the increase (126 in 2020-2021 compared to 170 + in 2021-2022). When there are multiple fetuses, one of more of them are aborted. The child who is born will find out one day that their sisters or brothers never made it into this world.

Also notice that A920A and P001A codes are both used for medical abortions, of which there were 23,657 in 2021-2022. There were 6,489 medical abortions in 2015-2016). The number of medical abortions increase every year. And remember that CIHI doesn't capture medical abortions, so CIHI's numbers will just continue to be under-reported with the advent of the abortion pill. CIHI also doesn't capture fetal reduction abortions.

Canada does late-term abortions - don't let the pro-aborts tell you it doesn't happen

The lie

"No providers in Canada offer abortion care beyond 23 weeks and 6 days. When they are beyond 23 weeks and 6 days, many Canadians end up having to travel to the United States to access services with little guidance or support from their governments."

Regarding the grim case of a recent 38 week old fetus being aborted in particular, I received this question from someone:

"I was led to believe in the past that 3rd trimester abortions for Canadian Women were actually done in the US as their weren’t doctors to do them in Canada. Is that correct? Also was this one done in Montreal a first in Canada? Really having a hard time getting my head around this."

The short answer is:

  • Canada does send women to the US for abortions
  • the very late term abortion in Montreal was not a first for Canada
  • every year there are many late-term abortions done in Canada
  • and please note that all these abortions detailed below result in a live child who is left to die, they also just happen to be late-term abortions

The problem is that the pro-aborts would have us believe that these horrific abortions are rare. They are not.

Below is what we know for sure, but as always, there is a lot of data missing from this. All this information below comes from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). So please don't shoot the messenger.

NOTE: There are also stillborn abortions listed in the links below. Because gestational ages are not provided for stillborn abortions, I am not including them in my calculations below, except to identify their numbers. All of these stillborn abortions reported by CIHI are > 20 weeks gestation. Therefore, there would definitely be late-term abortions in these numbers, we just don't know how many.

Born alive abortions

NOTE this from CIHI:

"in accordance with CIHI’s privacy policy, cells with counts of 1 to 4 are suppressed. These are represented by N/R (Not reportable) in the table. Suppressed cells are excluded from the totals."

What this means is, that when you see a cell containing N/R, there are 1 to 4 of these abortions for that gestational age.

In 2020/2021 there were 8 born alive abortions 29 + weeks, and 8 between 25 and 28 weeks.

There were also 935 stillborn abortions done this year, all > 20 weeks gestation. Some of these would be late-term abortions.

In 2019/2020 there were 10 born alive abortions performed 25-28 week gestation, and 1-4, 29 + weeks

There were also 999 stillborn abortions done this year, all > 20 weeks gestation. Some of these would be late-term abortions.

In 2018-2019 there were 5 born alive abortions done 29 + weeks, and 15 done 25 -28 weeks

There were also 902 stillborn abortions done this year, all > 20 weeks gestation. Some of these would be late-term abortions.

In 2013-2018 there were 8 plus an unknown number of born alive abortions done of 29 + weeks, and there were 27 done 25 - 28 weeks.

There were also 4,282 stillborn abortions done this year, all > 20 weeks gestation. Some of these would be late-term abortions.
